I know, that was SO sad! If only the Mom didn't throw down those pills. She must have gotten a raindrop on her when she tossed them. :(
I hit Chapter 24 last night - where are all of you now?

I liked the ending. It was sad, but expected. I kind of thought she would miss her Dad. I wonder if book 2 will have a nice reunion with her and her dad/brother. (I'm crossing my fingers.)
Hmmm, what else. I wonder what the army was doing will all the people they kept. At first I thought they were going to keep the "non-talent" as people they could experiment on - to find a cure for the rain or how it affects our body. But I guess that wasn't it. Maybe they just want to build a society of people who can adapt.
As for the characters, I liked them all. I don't think there were any of them that I totally despised, although Ruby made me sigh or cringe many times while reading her story. Not because I didn't like her, but because I was afraid for her safety. Like when she walked out of the house and slammed the door shut and then discovered it was raining and she was stuck on the porch - like...what??! She's SO lucky the wind didn't shift or a stray drop didn't drop her way.
That's all I have for now.

I too hope she finds her father.
How awful that the military just dropped (more like dumped) them off. Like their life meant nothing.
The book makes you think 🤔 how would we react. I know we’d want to help others - like when the lady was banging on the car 🚘 window and her stepfather told her they couldn’t help the lady. It was true they couldn’t but how helpless one would feel and weak in our humanity.
Linda, let us know when you've caught up or where you are so we don't spoil you with any information you may not have read yet. :)
