Did you read this previously or did you try it today and give up? I checked your review and it says you added and finished it today so I was curious.

I started it yestersday, and finished yesterday. I had the day off, and I had to put it down at times and go to something else.
I have never been a big fan of the classics, and this one was just not my cup of tea. I looked at a few of my friends reviews for this one, and they are all over the board. Either people hated it, and rated 1 or 2 stars, or they loved it with 4 or 5. NONE of my friends gave it a 3. So I am going to be curious to see what everyone thinks about the book here.

I’m not struggling with it as much as I thought I would, I think he’s done a very good job of describing the time it’s set in but no character development at least in the first 4 chapters. That’s all I’ve read for now

I find it a bit confusing so far. Don’t know if it’s because English isn’t my first language.

I have had a person who does not have English as a first language messaging me with Christmas Carol paragraphs asking me to interpret them - odd to have someone trusting me to interpret Dickens!🤣

To read this is one day is pretty impressive, like Matthew said!

This opens with one of the most iconic opening lines ever. Almost everyone recognizes it even if they don't know what books it's from. I've read it before, but have a beautiful collectible version I think I'll try this go round. I'm not quick reading on paper anymore because my eyes get tired, but it feels wrong to read this particular one on a Nook.

I read a lot. Plus it helped that my daughter was at school, husband at work. It was just me and the boys (My German Shepard, and Beagle). It was a nice day here in Texas and I sat out on the deck while the boys ran around in the yard.

Thanks, Matthew. Never heard about it. Might be helpful, yes. My confusion, in this case, was more like a what the hell are they doing, what are they talking about, who are they kind of confusion, I think.
