I participated in NaNoWriMo in November and I hit the ground running with a novel idea that had been spinning in my head for a few years. It felt great to put words on a page again, but then I ran out of steam. I open up what I wrote and it feels like garbage. I have no desire to edit or continue writing and that would be fine if I didn't have this nagging, irritating feeling that I am missing out by not continuing to write. Even still, when I turn on the computer or pick up a pencil, I can't get the "juices" flowing. Anybody else experience this?

I had that in early stages of my latest book, especially on the back of months of editing previous ones. What I'd written didn't seem to be flowing as well - I eventually realised my plan wasn't clear enough. As for it not being as good as my previous writing, I keep telling myself that of course it isn't, because I'm comparing a first draft with writing that has been edited and rewritten many times.
When I compare it to my first drafts of previous books, that's much fairer and it helps restore my confidence that I will eventually spin the straw of this narrative into gold.
(Or at least shinier straw!) :)
