Next was Ash. She quietly stepped in his room and closed the door. He was asleep in his bed, curled up in a ball. He looked angelic with his hair all ruffled and his stuffed animal that he tightly held. “Ash, time to wake up,” she said softly as she nudged him. “Too early,” he replied, still half-asleep.
“Come on, I made breakfast.”
“Too tired.”
“Well it’s either you get up or get ice water,” she said playfully.
“Fine,” He got up and walked out of the room, not bothering to change out of his pajamas.
When she got back in the kitchen she was surprised to see everyone there and enjoying her strange meal. Her family was laughing, cracking jokes, and just having a good time. It was so unlike the day before, everyone was acting as if nothing happened, which was fine with her.
After breakfast was over Ash and West went to watch Saturday morning cartoons, Erin went to bed, and her parents were getting ready for work.
Seattle’s parents worked jobs that were different from the average parents. Her mom was editor and chief of the newspaper as well as a famous author of philosophy. Her dad was a college professor in history, mythology, architecture, and archeology. Her dad also worked at dig sites whenever he got the chance.
Seattle went to her parent’s room. They were hurrying to get their stuff packed, so she patiently waited for a chance to talk.
“Mom,” she finally said.
“Yes dear,” her mother, Blair, replied.
“I won’t be able to watch Ash today because I’m going on a date.”
“That’s fine with me. West will take care of him, he’s not busy today. By the way who is taking you out?”
“Allain.”
“Allain is taking you out on a date? I thought he was like a brother to you?”
“That was when I was younger. I really like him and I’m hoping he feels the same way.”
“When is he picking you up?”
“About two hours. I should probably get ready,” She started to leave but then turned around, “Don’t let Pops know until after you leave, I don’t want him freaking out,”
“I’ll tell him when I drop him off. Also, you should have a little faith in your father, he’s not going to freak out about every boy you meet.”
“Okay,” Seattle left the room excited, thinking about what she was going to wear, how she was going to paint her nails, and style her hair and makeup.
Seattle has never been the “girly-girl” type but when it came to special occasions she was an expert. She put on a black, lacy cami, tight, skinny jeans, a leather jacket, and a pair of blue-suede, peep-toe heels. Her makeup was simple but stunning: a light pinkish-goldish eyeshadow, contour, and some powder, pink lip-gloss.
She went out to the living room where Ash and West were watching television. “Whatchya watching?” she asked.
“Spongebob,” Ash replied.
“As usual. Hey, West did Mom and Pops leave yet?” Sea asked.
“Yeah, they left a bit ago,” West turned to look at his sister with a confused look on his face. “Why are you all dressed up?”
“I’m going on a date. Oh, by the way you’re in charge of watching Ash,” she said straightforwardly.
“What? But you always watch him,” West argued.
“Well, I’m busy and you can take a turn for once.”
“I don’t need to be watched,” Ash interrupted.
“Yes you do,” Sea said. “Last time we left you alone you almost burned the house down,”
“No I did not.”
“You put a tin foil wrapped corn dog in the microwave for fifteen minutes,” West countered.
“How was I supposed to know it would catch fire,” Ash whined.
“Common sense,” Sea responded
“Fine,” He grumbled. “But West has to play with me.” Seattle tried her best to stifle a laugh.
“I am not playing with you,” West told him.
“Please,” Ash gave him a pouty look.
“Fine but stop giving me that look it makes me feel guilty.”
Sea was going to add to the conversation, but she heard a knock at the door. “See you all later,” she said.
She ran to the door as best she could in heels and threw it open.
“Hi,” a man with a tenor voice said. “In a hurry?”
“Hey, Allain. So…” She was distracted by is bleach, blonde hair and his gorgeous, electric, blue, eyes.
“Shall we?” He asked holding out his arm for her.
“Um...yeah,” she took his arm awkwardly not knowing what else to do. He led her to his 1968 Ford Mustang Fastback that was black with white stripes.
“That’s your car?” Sea asked amazed.
“Yeah. I bought it at an old car shop over the summer,” He opened the passenger door for Sea and got behind the wheel after she settled in.
“So where are we going?” Sea wondered.
“It's a surprise,” he replied.
They road in silence which gave Seattle some time to think. She was assuming that her brothers were scheming a diabolical plan. She knew her Pops was giving some ridiculous lecture on the Greek gods' family tree and that her mother was arguing with her co-workers on what story should be the headliner for that week. She was also thinking about the day before, wondering how she could be doing something so normal when things truly weren’t.
Allain stopped the car and Seattle found herself in a campsite parking lot. “Where are we?,” she asked Allain.
“The woods,” he answered. “C’Mon.” He got out of the vehicle and opened the door for Sea, then opened the trunk and took out a picnic basket and blanket. “I thought a picnic would be a nice first date. I hope you don’t mind a small hike though.”
“Not at all. Lead the way.”
He led her to a nature trail that was narrow but beautiful. Sea marveled at every plant she saw while Allain told and explained to her what each species was and how they could be used. She always forgot how smart Allain actually was. He’s always silent in his classes and never turned in his homework either, which Sea never understood why.
They came to halt at a clearing that had a wide assortment of wildflowers and bushes that had multitudes of juicy looking berries. The plants were unlike anything that Seattle had ever seen, they were unfamiliar and alien, almost like they were from a different world altogether. There was chirping birds flying about and butterflies roaming around the flowers, some species she didn’t even recognize.
“I’ve been hiking in these very woods since I was a child but I have never seen this part of the forest,” Seattle said breathlessly.
“I actually found it by accident,” Allain stated as he begun laying the blanket down on the vibrant, soft, green grass.
“How so?” Seattle asked curiously.
“One of my friends and I found it while hiking. We lost the original path and found another one that led to this. I thought it would be the perfect spot for our date, unless if I’m wrong.”
Sea smiled at him and said, “You picked the perfect spot.”
“Really?”
“Yes, really. Why wouldn’t it be?” Sea sat down on the picnic blanket and had the urge to take a gander in the basket.
“Well, I guess that’s a score for me,” Allain replied jokingly as he sat down beside Seattle.
“Funny,” Sea said rolling her eyes. “So, what now?”
“We eat,” Allain took hold of the basket and pulled out two food items that looked similar to falafel. “Want one?” he asked Sea.
“Yes, please,” he handed her one, and she took it gingerly. “What is this?”
Allain thought for a moment then said. “It’s kinda like falafel, a veggie burger, and quinoa all rolled up in one. It sounds strange but it tastes good,” He took a big bite as if to express his words.
Seattle followed suit and took a bite and found that she enjoyed it. “This is really good. Where did you get it?” She asked, trying her best not to talk with her mouth full.
“I actually made it. It’s one of my family’s secret recipes.”
“It’s really good.”
“I’m glad you like it,” he said with a smile.
They talked and ate their meals for the rest of their date.
*gasps* That's a lot of work..... xD Well the fantasy part sounds cool, the characters seem different from each other so unique is a good thing.... but I honestly don't like the dating part.... it's weird. ;)
Well, I just copied and pasted.I'm glad to hear it and I'll try to keep it up. Hmm the dating part is how Seattle enters the world of Mytholia and Allain is not all what he seems. (I'm trying so hard not to spoil LOL)
Ooooohhh... yep. That's way easier.Okay well you write the book... xD I'm just trying to be honest. I picked up though, on the Allain is not what he seems. He was already strange to me....
Well the whole homework thing and he was acting strange. I didn't know if that was his personality or not but the whole forest thing... I was kinda guessing he was gonna be Sea's link to Mytholia.... *grins*
Your right but I didn't want it to be that obvious. I'll try to be less predictable when I get further into the book.
As Allain was wrapping up, Seattle went to examine the significant flowers. There was a particular one that caught her eye. It was in the form of a hibiscus, was light blue towards the middle, and had ombre colouring that ended in purple at the edges of the petals. The pollen was the most peculiar part, it looked like silver dust. She brushed her finger on it and the pollen looked iridescent instead of silver when drew her hand back.
A spicebush swallowtail butterfly then landed on a petal of the bud but to Seattle something seemed off. The insect was idiosyncratic, for its body wasn’t that of an insect but one of a human. Seattle was about to take a closer look but Allain called out to her. “Coming?” he asked. “Yes,” she answered. She turned back around to inspect the creature again, but it had already flown off.
On the ride back home, Sea kept on wondering if the “butterfly” she saw was just her eyes tricking her. She wanted to tell Allain about it but he would possibly think she was crazy and would request for her to see a shrink.
This wouldn’t be the first time she saw crazy illusions that her mind played on her. She never told anyone of these occurrences and never would. Seattle didn’t want to be identified as insane or worse be put in an asylum, so she kept her mouth shut.
“You alright?” Allain asked. “You look pale.”
“I’m okay,” she replied.
“Let me know if you need anything.”
They rode in silence, again, and were soon back at Sea’s home. Allain opened the car door for Sea and accompanied her to the porch. “It was pleasure picnicking with you,” Allain told her as Sea laid her hand on the doorknob.
“I couldn’t agree more. I had a lovely time,” Sea said which made Allain beam.
“Shall we try it again sometime?”
“We shall. Well, goodbye then. I’ll see you at school Monday?”
“Yes, I’ll be there. Goodbye Sea.”
Sea opened the front door and walked in. She plopped down on the couch smiling like a mad woman. Ash then ran up to her and sang “Seattle and Allain sitting in a tree K-I-S-S-I-N-G.”
Seattle threw a pillow at him laughing.
This is the rest of the first chapter. The second will be coming soon!
Well you can check out my section if you like for more info, but I'm about halfway done on my last round. We shall see what comes of it.
Coming back to this after three years is a little strange; I'm noticing all the mistakes I made with this. I learned that I need to write from what I know, that my character should have a similar backstory to my actual life experiences. I've recently been writing poems and even some song lyrics, I haven't been too keen on sharing them though. I know that only two people have looked at this but I still have a need to put down my thoughts. Let me know what you think :)

Almost All About Mytholia #1
(Mith.oh.lee.a)
A thousand years ago, in a secret land no human could have ever imagined and never laid their eyes on, was a high kingdom. The kingdom had a grand and lovely castle, nestled in a vast but cozy city. The kingdom and all its surrounding villages, towns and outside kingdoms, were full of astounding creatures known as myths or to others, faeries.
You are probably wondering what a myth is, so I might as well tell you. A Myth is a mythical creature (hence the name Myth). There are many types of these fascinating creatures: fairies, mermaids, tree folk, trolls, flower tykes, little folk, wood elves, dragons, drakons, leprechauns, creatures of the dark, and much more.
In each part of the mystifying land there is a web of sovereignty. These empires have different species of Myth ruling. Each Myth used to fall under one kingdom; the high kingdom, but the division between them has come to end. Even though the kingdoms learned to have unity, they still compiled and listened to the high court; the fairies.
Since, you now know some basic facts about Mytholia, it's time you learn the tale about two myths. I’ll let you decide if such a story is truth or fiction. But, I’d advise you to contemplate the possibility of yourself being a Myth is high. If you learn you are, keep these words in your heart and find us, we will be waiting.
Prologue
Long ago, on a black, starry night, a mysterious figure appeared in the gloom at the high kingdom’s castle doors of Mytholia. It was hidden in a cloak of darkness, with a hood that concealed its features.
One of the castle guards witnessed the occurrence. He let out a warning of surrender and demanded to know the trespasser’s identity. The figure stood in silence and studied the guard. Since the hooded figure didn’t comply, the guard and his comrades unsheathed their swords and raised them towards the unknown Myth.
The intruder then gracefully raised its hand and a burst of a freezing, cold breeze surrounded the group. The figure then pulled back its hood to expose a young maiden, she had dark, thick, ebony hair, fair, delicate skin, red, pouty lips, and intelligent, stormy, gray eyes.
“My Lady!” the guard said dumbfounded. “Forgive me I didn’t know it was you.”
“Its alright brave one,” she said. “I didn’t want to be seen, I have something urgent to tell my sister and it must stay hushed for the time being.”
“Yes, my Lady I will send for her…,” Before he could finish the castle doors were thrown open, revealing the queen.
“Sister,” the queen said worried. “Why are you here? What have you to tell me?”
“Sister, a prophecy has been told, one for all Mytholia”.
“ A prophecy? But from where? Who has told you?”
“I heard it in the deep of the woods, one of the little folk told me. Athtar issued it”.
Both sisters stared into each other’s eyes, for Athtar was one of the wisest and oldest Mytholians and when he makes a proclamation you know it will come.
Chapter One,
Seattle Sabion never felt this way before. A form of emotion like this was foreign to her. Betrayed and deceived under her nose her entire life. She didn’t even know who she was anymore. She never belonged in the first place, she was the black sheep of the family, the far cry.
She guessed that she should’ve known given she looked nothing like her family in the first place. Her family members had straight, brunette hair, brown, chocolate eyes, and golden, tan skin. Seattle, however, had beach curled, blonde hair, fair skin, and large, bright, sea blue-green eyes. The only other person in her family that had some similarities to her was her brother, Ash. He had dirty-blonde hair, a light tan, and dark-green eyes. Maybe, Ash was like her as well.
Seattle locked herself in her room and was listening to music to keep the news off her mind, which wasn’t helping.
How could they? Why did they keep this information from me? Why didn’t they tell me sooner?
Even though she asked herself these questions several times, she didn’t come up with a conclusion. She felt like asking her parents, but instead she kept her distance. She wanted them to feel guilty for being secretive for so long. She felt ill and bitter towards them, hoping they felt the same towards themselves.
Adopted. She was adopted. The word kept ricocheting in her head, as she heard her adopted parents squabble in the kitchen.
They were about to eat dinner when her father let the information slip off his tongue. Her parents have been quarreling about it since. Apparently, her “so called” mother didn’t want Seattle to hold the knowledge.
She kept on wondering who her biological parents were and why they abandoned her. She loved the family she had, but she couldn’t help thinking why they left her in the first place.
She was self-absorbed in her thoughts when she heard a knock at her door. “Go away!” she yelled.
“Sea,” a child’s voice replied, likely Ash, “Please let me in.”
She tuned him out, not wanting to listen to his childish rubbish.
“Please,” he begged.
“Fine,” she grumbled, not wanting to hear anymore of his whining.
She flung open the door, to reveal her ten-year old brother’s face.
“What on earth do you want from me?” was all she bitterly asked. She was going to say more but her voice faltered when she saw how saddened his face was. “I’m scared,” he sobbed, “Mom and Pops won’t stop fighting.”
Sea stayed silent not knowing what to say.
“Could I be adopted too?” he simply asked.
“I don’t know,” she answered solemnly.
“I don’t like hearing them yell, so can we go to the fort?”
She wasn’t in the mood to go to the fort, but seeing him with his puppy dog eyes, how could she refuse? “Yeah, lets go,” she complied halfheartedly.
Seattle was partially glad to get out of the house and the other part was thankful for her brother’s distraction.
They snuck out her bedroom window and hopped the backyard fence.
Down the road they went, that dead ended at the start of the woods.
Their fort wasn’t much it was an abandoned tree house Ash and her found when they were younger while they were trekking the woods. It was a shabby old thing, it looked like crap no matter how many times they painted or tried to fix it. It was still a special place though, they went there to forget the world and problems they faced. It was where they relaxed and made memories, it was their little secret, one that Sea would never share.
Ash started being more like himself, speaking real fast and talking jibber-jabber nonsense. He was telling her something that happened at school that day, but she wasn’t paying any attention.
Why did her life have to get complicated at such a time; she was ahead in all her classes and about ready to skip, she finally got her crush to notice her and ask her out on a date for the weekend, and she got into the extra-curricular arts school she dreamed of getting into since she was eight. Everything was perfect, until now.
“What am I going to do?” she blurted.
“I don’t know. Go to the wolves they’ll raise you,” her brother suggested.
“Really, Ash?”
“I’m just trying to help.”
“Ash, a terrible suggestion and besides the wolves wouldn’t want to raise me anyways.”
“Why?”
“Wolves are predators, Ash, they’ll eat me instead.” Her brother gave her a look of disgust.
She couldn’t help but smile, even though she felt like crying. She knew she shouldn’t, not in front of Ash. Seattle had to be strong for her brother, he looked up to her and needed her. No, she would not cry, not now, but later.
“Sea, when will mom and Pops stop fighting?” asked Ash.
“I don’t know.”
“Can we do something to help?”
“No, I wish we could, but sadly we cannot. Also, Ash they are your parents not mine,” she said a bit too harshly.
Ash had a look of hurt in his eyes but as quick as it came it vanished. “Stop being such a grumpy-grump”. He singsonged.
“I am not being a grumpy-grump, you’re just too giddy,” she countered.
“Yes, you are,” he repeated.
“Ugh.”
Seattle was getting aggravated. Ash was usually this annoying, which usually made her laugh. But since she found out the news, nothing seemed the same or as bright.
“Sea?”
Hearing her name jerked her out of her thoughts. “Can you tell me a story?” asked her ankle biter of a brother.
“Okay,” she sighed, “what kind?”
“A good one.”
“Okay, give me a second,” Ever since Ash was small Seattle would tell him stories. Their parents had full time jobs and their nanny didn’t care about them only the money, so Sea ended up tucking her brother in at both nap and bedtimes. Storytelling became a favorite among the two.
She told Ash a tale of a clumsy frog who lived on an island called Smarty Pants Land. It was a preposterous story but the two were giggling so hard that they started gasping for air like asthmatics.
When the story was finished, the sun was setting. They walked home in silence. When Seattle got to her room, she collapsed on her bed, not bothering to take off her clothes.
Seattle slept like the dead that night, she didn’t even dream or stir. She awoke with the sunlight kissing her face and the chirping of birds. Even though she received bad news the day before, she promised herself that the day would be a great one.
She got out of bed and got ready for the day. She took a long hot shower, brushed her hair and teeth, and pulled on some jeans and a t-shirt.
She didn’t care about running into her parents nor did she care what would happen if she did. Sea just wanted to go about her day as she did on a regular basis.
She went to the kitchen and saw that her parents were in deep conversation. “Good morning,” Seattle said cheerfully.
Her parents seemed stunned at her joyful behavior, it was diverse from the day before. Her mother was too aghast to speak so her father spoke up, “Morning, how did you sleep last night?”
“Like a corpse,” she replied.
“You have a way with words,” her Pops chuckled.
“Would you guys like anything?”
“Well, no matter what we say you're still going to make us something.”
“Blue and green french toast it is then.”
“With bacon and eggs please?” he added.
Sea got out the materials she needed and began making her favorite breakfast meal. When she was finished she portioned it between her three brothers, parents, and one for herself. She then set the table and went to wake up her lazy siblings.
She went to her eldest brother’s room first and knocked. Her brother didn’t answer, so she slowly opened his door. He was conked out on his gaming chair with his headset still on and his X-Box controller on the floor. She smacked him on the shoulder, and he awoke glaring at her.
“What was that for, you brat?” he said
“To wake you up, you dolt. I made breakfast for everyone and you better come and get it. Also, did you pull an all nighter, Erin?”
“Ugh, you talk too much. And yes I pulled an all nighter, I don’t see why you care. I’ll be out there in a few,” said Erin.
She left and headed to West’s room. He was on his X-Box playing some gory zombie game. “Hey, I made breakfast if you want it,” she said.
“I’ll be there in a sec,” said West.
