Goosebumps discussion

I love thriller stories but I have never read a Stephen King book! I think I'm too much of a wimp to read one, but I am going to be brave buy my first Stephen King novel.
What Stephen King book is your favourite?

I’ve not read a huge amount of Stephen king... I loved the shining and Carrie and misery and Pet Sematary though!
I’ve got The Stand on my To Be Read list. Revival scared me, one of his more recent books.
King has said before that Pet Sematary is the scariest books he’s written.
I read Dreamcatcher a few years ago after seeing the film but I didn’t enjoy it that much.

I’ve actually read more King than I thought!

Thanks for your suggestions, I'll have to see which one I fancy, start off with a mild horror one lol.
What other horror/thriller authors do you like?

I must admit the first and ONLY (gasp!) Stephen King book that I've read was "The Dead Zone". It was awesome so I figured I just ended on a high note.

I enjoyed "Nightmares & Dreamscapes". It is a collection of short stories that you may find enjoyable. It will give you a taste of his writing style anyway. This may be a good place to start, since some of his books are quite lengthy.

It's funny you mentioned the first Pet Semetary movie. I watched that again recently! I can remember as a child having nightmares to that one! lol. It sure isn't as engaging as it was when I was a kid, but it's not a horrible film. You know what they say, the book is always better than the movie!

I'm only just now getting into reading King. I read The Shining a few years ago and this year read Pet Sematary leading up to seeing the new movie. I also, just ordered and received in the mail The Tommyknockers, Carrie, Misery, and Revival. I'm trying to get my hands on a copy of It, though, so I can finally see the movie.
Another author I read in the horror/suspense genre is Paul Tremblay.
