I just read the "Hunger" by Alma Katsu. It’s a fictional account of the Donner party, wagon train pioneers who made some pretty tough choices in order to stay alive! This retelling has a supernatural twist! I think readers who enjoy historical fiction would like this book, even though the author takes liberty with the actual events. It is fiction, after all! I think it gives a good glimpse into wagon and pioneer life. And also how adversity and disasters can divide people.
Reading 'My Brilliant Friend' by Elena Farrante, the first novel in quartet. I am in about 60 pages and hooked. It is the story of two girls growing up in post WWII Naples, poor but intelligent in a society that is still rooted in a culture that function as if it were 1850.

Thanks for your input, Michael! I've heard great things about Farrante's books. I wonder how the television show compares to the book?!
