Kate (mrs_apples) | 14 comments Hi all,
I'm new to the group and instead of waiting until next year, thought I'd take advantage of the fact that I have been reading books by Australian authors, or about Australia this year. I'm calling it my homegrown reading list, as I'm an Aussie myself.

So for the remainder of the year, I intend to try and read the following books relating to Australia...

Cocaine Blues FINISHED

The Build Up FINISHED

The Tall Man : Death and Life on Palm Island FINISHED

Under the Microscope

Girt: The Unauthorised History of Australia

p.s - if you're interested in any of the other Aussie books I've read so far, you can find them in my australian-author-or-content reading list.

Welcome Kate. Sounds like you're having fun with Australia. I'll go over and check out your list.

Cherie (crobins0) Hi Kate. I found your challenge and looked at your books. My Challenge criteria is that the story has to be set in Australia, so far. Most of them are by Australian authors anyway. See ya around!

Kate (mrs_apples) | 14 comments September update and I've now finished The Build Up and The Tall Man. Both set in northern Australian and a fabulous (and not so fabulous, in the case of The Tall Man) portrayal of life in northern Australia.

The Build Up was a bit of a lark and fun detective story, while The Tall Man was a real life recount of the death in custody of an indigenous man and the fall out from that.

Both great reads.
