Oh wow, so many books I nominated have made the shortlist! Obviously I know that's not down to me alone XD but that's so exciting!
The SF and debut categories make me sad. No Yoon Ha Lee, no Semiosis :( But it looks like I won't have to read much. If I don't vote in the fantasy category, I don't need to read anything at all. That would certainly make things easier!edit: Actually, I'm ready to vote right now! :D I don't need to read anything to know what to vote for. That's certainly much easier than previous years!
I’ve read all but two in the four novel categories. I need to read Trail of Lightning, which I’m excited about & Vengeful, which I’m not excited about. Since I’ve read most of these, I might try reading the MG and graphic categories that I usually don’t read.
Not a bad shortlist, but there are some things on here I'm just not interested in reading (Circe, Vengeful, Muse of Nightmares, and the Cruel Prince). I'll definitely be reading the middle grade category, and I've read everything in the debut and short works categories already. i have yet to get to Grey Sister but it's definitely on my list to read :) It'll be an interesting year.
I knew I'd be reading The Poppy War this year, lol! :) And I guess it's good Children of Blood and Bone made the list - all I know about it is that the author threw a fit over twitter about a dubious copyright infringement claim, which turns me off about the author. But the Awards will make me give it a fair chance.
An interesting selection, definitely a couple I was sure would be on here that aren't, but that's what makes things interesting. Also, happy to see I've already read 1 or more in every category, where last year I had read 1 total, meaning it should be a bit less of a feat to read the majority of the shortlist for voting this time around!
So excited! I have several of these already on my TBR so that makes it cheaper. And I literally just finished The Cruel Prince which I loved! I’m ready to discuss. Lol
Nothing too surprising, but I have only read Circe and all the short works. There is no way I will have time to read all of the rest, so I’ll have to focus on some.
I saw a previous comment/report that it was close in some categories and as a non-nominator, I wonder if my lack of participation has skewed the nominations?(not really, I'm used to being ignored)
Well if these are the choices then it might be an easy vote?
Great list no doubt, but I always get a bit disappointed that in the end it always comes down to the most popular titles and authors. Short work, MG and YA for instance is mainly a collection of the overall strongest names. Can`t help but to want more recognition for novels like Senlin Ascends, Vita Nostra and The Monster Baru Cormorant.
It's always exciting to see the short list! I'm personally planning to read the Science Fiction, Debut, Graphic Novels and Middle Grade Category. I've only read a couple books from these categories, but there are a lot of books that were already on my TBR.
A pretty good shortlist.I really feel that next year a short story category should be added. Individual stories can't compete with the plethora of (excellent) novellas coming out and seem to fall by the wayside each year.
Less diverse than I hoped for in terms of authors - lots of the same names over and overt again the past few years - I'm a little biased - DNF'd Red Sister last year - don't mind the Grimdark stuff on occasion but Lawrence's glorification of violence against children was a bit too much - DNF's Chambers as well last year, and have found Schwab and Martha Wells to be 'meh' at best. I'll stick with the Debut novels and see what happens...

I also have read two in the graphic novel already, only The Adventure Zone: Here There Be Gerblins is still missing. I'll see what I can do with fantasy, YA and Debut Novel.
Once again I'm not impressed by the comics category, but I'm also not very surprised. I've concluded that the community as a whole has a very different taste in comics than I do. XD I might give Monstress vol 3 a try, though.
Okay, I know this is a little late, but I've finally officially decided which categories I am going to try and complete.*Best Fantasy
My Library Has both Foundryside & Circe
Scribd has Red Sister & Grey Sister
*Best Young Adult
*Best Debut
Don't know how I'll read Trail of Lightning (Since there's no audiobooks to borrow... may have to borrow the ebook)
*Best Short Work
Scribd has the Wayward Children series
Scribd has the Martha Wells Books
My Library has the Binti books (Read the first & didn't really like it... hope the rest are better)
The Rest of the Categories only have 1 book I am even remotely interested in or no books at all that I am even remotely interested in.
