In this challenge teams will be racing to see which one can reach the top of a randomly selected mountain (listed below) first. After the first mountain is conquered, a new one will be selected and teams will again race to the top.

Every page read is equal to one foot, but you might be able to double them.

To double page values: Read a book...
1. set in the same state as the selected mountain
2. with a title, author, or main character beginning with the same letter as the mountain (e.g. Mount Rainier's letter would be "R")
3. with "mountain" in the title or series name
4. where a mountain is a major setting

The challenge will run from March 1-May 31. We probably won't use all the locations, but if we run out the challenge will end earlier than the 31st of May.

Book Requirements:
↦No page minimum
↦All formats are allowed for this challenge (print, ebook, audio, etc.)
↦Manga, Comics, graphic novels, cookbooks, poetry, books in verse, etc. are not allowed.
↦You may reread a book for the challenge, but only once per book
↦Books may be started at any time, but only the pages read during the challenge count.

Fun challenge!! Thanks for hosting it this time around, Megan. :D

I'm definitely in! I read anywhere from 0-7+ books a week (all depends on if I'm in a reading slump, lol). I think I read about 700 pages a week on average.

Thanks! I was happy to do it again.

I get that. I had the hardest time deciding on my books/pages, but I went to my stats for the year and divided it by how many weeks we've had so far. :)

message 6: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (bookwormhannah) | 1527 comments Sounds good! 1-5 books per week for me.

message 7: by Audrey (new)

Audrey Grant (audoneinak) | 14 comments Audrey,
I read 1-2 books a week not sure how many pages they average.
I live in Alaska so would love Denali!!

Merie Shen (princess_of_space) | 12 comments I would love to sign up! I read about 1-5 books a week on average... I'm not sure how many pages, that depends. :D Maybe usually 300-500. :)

message 10: by Angie (new)

Angie Thompson (angiethompson) | 338 comments I'm in! This will be my first time with one of these challenges, so I'm excited! :D

So far this year, I've averaged about six books a week and about 1300 pages. That number seems really high, but I'm not very good at estimating, so I'm hoping my stats page is accurate! ;)

Dawn (baseballblondie) | 1166 comments I have to pass on this one. Things are a little crazy.

message 13: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (ksnapier) | 705 comments So excited. I read between 1-2 books a week, about 500 pages

message 14: by Brittany (new)

Brittany | 1038 comments I'm in. My book reading/page reading depends on how busy the week is and the length of the particular books. I would guess about 4 books a week, maybe 600 pages a week? I read a lot, but my stats number seemed outrageous, so I'm goin with my personal estimate.

message 15: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (bookwormhannah) | 1527 comments Oh, by the way...will reviews be required for this one? Or just ratings?

message 16: by Deanne (new)

Deanne Patterson (cnnamongirlaolcom) | 406 comments I'm in I read 5-7 books a week depending on how busy I am.

Monique the Book Geek (moniquethebookgeek) Yes, yes, yes! This challenge looks like so much fun! Please sign me up! I am trying to read a lot more and this challenge will encourage me to do so! :)

I plan to read 1-3 books per week during this challenge, ranging from 200-500 pages per week.

Once teams are created, check in with your team. I'll post the teams here and plan to send everyone that signed up a message as well.

This should be a very laid back challenge, since you can read almost anything. I think my only suggestion would be to post finished books as soon as possible, since it's a race to the top, but other than that just have fun. :)

writer... (goodreadscomwriter) | 455 comments I'll add my reading for this event as well, Megan.. Really varied as a lot of mine are audios.
I'll say 4-5/wk x 250-300 pgs each = 1200 approx

Life does interrupt [as well as review requests] ! So i do add that caveat .. i hate disappointing expectations, so maybe factor my reading a bit lower than what it is right now in prime winter reading weather! ☺

message 32: by Karis (new)

Karis | 220 comments Megan, can you remove me? I was just thinking it over, and as I'm recovering from a book slump right now, I think it's better if I don't feel forced to read anything even if it's for a fun challenge like this. ;)
