I am very interested in joining in the reading of a french novel. I have never heard of it or the author before though.
I'm still stuck in chapter 1 of La curée (my e-reader broke down etc). However, to speed things up I will finish it in translation. I hope to be able to rejoin you with L'argent.
I was wondering if we are going to resume Zola. I think the later books are the ones that will be most interesting. Zulfiya, I know you have a lot going on already, but do we have interest in continuing this?
I still do. I took a break because we were reading a French novel in February - March, and now I am on the cusp of the finals. I do need to find some time to post a schedule and re-launch the project.
Understandable, and thank you again for all you do! I guess I haven't missed Zola much since I was surprised to see how many months it's been since this last one.

After a summer hiatus, we are back and geared up for a new novel by Zola.
As we agreed long time ago, we are using a recommended order, so this time, we are reading L'Argent or put it English simply - Money.
Below is a tentative schedule. How about September 01? Do you all think a Labor Day in the USA is a good day to start a new Zola novel?
If you think it is too early, then let me know, and I will adjust the schedule accordingly.
September 01 - Chapters I and II (the biggest part,
but still manageable to read within one week)
September 08 - Chapters III and IV
September 15 - Chapters V and VI
September 22 - Chapters VII and VIII
September 29 - Chapters IX and X
October 06 - Chapters XI and XII
As you can see, this is a 'no-frill' schedule - simple and very straightforward :-) Thus, if yo have any suggestions, it will be easily changeable.
Looking forward to your feedback: the day we start, the number of chapters per each week, and/or any the type of discussion you want to have.
