Unfortunately out of my April books, only one qualifies
Just completed #3 (book in the midst of the series) - Bloodwitch by Susan Dennard. Wow, what a way to continue a series!!!! I'm impressed that she's bringing together so many disparate threads and weaving the stories in and out. I love the progression of the characters! My only criticism is that I'm confused about the larger narrative, but I think that's her goal for this book. Cannot wait for the next book in the series! Definitely worth reading! 4.5 stars1/5
I'll join for 2 books!Complete: 2/2
√ 1. Middle Child: Read a book that is neither the first nor the last book in a series--Prince's Gambit
√ 2. Sibling Rivalry: Read a book about family discord or competition among siblings--Kings Rising

Update: 2/44. In-Laws: Read a story whose protagonist is involved with the legal system or is a criminal or both. - Heist Society
5. Blood is Thicker than Water: Read a book with a predominately red cover or a has a medical component to it. - Dry
2/3
Just completed #5 (red cover and medical) - Red Mars by Kim Stanley Robinson. I enjoyed this book's premise. The writing was good, and it had just the right amount of science for me. I'm definitely continuing with the series. However, the portrayals of women were skewed into parody (either the madonna or the whore or the shrew, etc). A sign of the times in which this book was written. That was my main criticism of the book, but it's still worth reading. 4 stars2/5
Just completed #9 (family discord) - The Royal Treatment by MaryJanice Davidson. Light and fluffy and funny and exactly what I needed as a palate cleanser. 3 stars3/5
Update to msg #12✔️4. In-Laws: [book:A Most Peculiar Malaysian Murder (Shamani Flint)
*The protagonist is a police inspector.
✔️5. Blood is Thicker than Water (red cover): The Quiet American (Graham Greene)
✔️6. Sisters Not Just Cisters : An Unkindness of Ghosts (Rivers Solomon)
*An #ownvoices science fiction novel with a transgender protagonist.
Progress: 3/3
Please lower my challenge goal from 5 books to 3 books.
Thank you, Megan!
Challenge completed.
Update 4/3Full list: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
Just complete #4 (legal) - Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi. Beautifully written, heart-breaking to read. The book does end with some hope, but it's got a lot of truth to relate first. A must read! 4.5 stars4/5
Just completed #8 (close male friendship in dialect) - Black Enough: Stories of Being Young & Black in America edited by Ibi Zoboi. Overall, a really great short story collection! I love all the different perspectives and different scenarios. I always wanted each story to continue, however, so I hope some of these stories are expanded into novels in the future. Definitely worth reading! 4 stars5/5 - challenge completed!
