100 pages in and I just don't care about any of it. I wanted to like it and have tried to give it a go but I've got so many books that I will enjoy reading, so why spend the time on this one. I'm giving up.
I read this quite a few years ago, but it is one of those books which stick in your mind. Used it also from time to time in History lessons about the Romans. I found once I knew the characters, I got very involved with them, especially Claudius. The description of Caligula and his court was both fascinating and horrifying as was Augustus and wife. I read a two other books by the author by they were not as gripping.

Things to consider:
1. Were you hooked immediately by the book or did it take a while to get into?
2. Did you like the plot?
3. Did the characters drive the plot or were they just passengers?
4. Did it come across as a credible story?
5. Did you connect to any of the characters in the story
6. Did you like the ending?
7. Did you have any quote or lines that stood out for you?
8. Would you read any other titles by this author?
