Our first readathon starts right away, on March 2nd! You can start at midnight in your time zone, and the readathon will end at 11:59PM in your time zone on Tuesday, March 5th.

The only requirement is to post some sort of update(s) as you go, whether that's the number of pages you read (overall or per day), how many hours you spent reading, what your favorite read was, etc. The more discussion, the better! Feel free to tell us how you're feeling about your readathon picks, and please post your TBR for the readathon!

Fulfilling challenges is NOT required, but if you'd like a few challenges to fill for this readathon:
1. Read a book with diverse rep! (i.e. POC rep, queer rep, disability rep, etc.)
2. Read something short: this can be a graphic novel, manga, poetry collection, novella, whatever you like.
3. Read something with your favorite color on the cover.

Currently reading:
- We Three Heroes by Lynette Noni
- Mortal Engines by Philip Reeve (audiobook)

TBR:
- Vardesia by Lynette Noni
- The Vanishing Stair by Maureen Johnston
- The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon (audiobook)

Oooooh, Priory. 😍 My pre-order copy came damaged so my replacement showed up today and I'm so tempted to start it this weekend too!!

Crystal Horrorder (hxcstar7) | 11 comments Could use some help. I'd really love to read about disabled characters but don't think I know of any. Suggestions?
I'm also disabled (or differently abled) with Rheumatoid Arthritis, so I'd love to rep that for this readathon.

Thanks for hosting this!!!!

I'm off Saturday through Tuesday (4-day weekend thanks to an all-day out-of-town seminar I have to go to next Friday), so I'm gonna try to get some major reading done!! I do have a lot of rearranging and organizing to do at home but hopefully I can listen to audiobooks while doing all of that.

I want to finish my current reads:
- Red, White & Royal Blue (diverse rep challenge)
- Nevernight (audio reread)
- A Danger to Herself and Others
- Aurora Rising (favorite color on the cover: purple)

And I want to read a bunch of library check-outs I need to return, which all fit the something short challenge since they're all GNs and manga:
- Giant Days, Vol. 5
- Giant Days, Vol. 6
- Giant Days, Vol. 7
- Legends of Zita the Spacegirl
- The Return of Zita the Spacegirl
- Deadman Wonderland, Vol. 1
- Black Butler, Vol. 1

Besides all of this, I might just mood read and try to read some ARCs!

message 6: by Sarah (new)

Sarah A-F (sarahlopod) | 49 comments Wooo!! My TBR is:

-Finish The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet, which I'm a little over halfway through.
-Read one of the graphic novels my friend lent me (she lent me 13, so we'll see which one I pick, I'd like to read at least one a week!)
-At least start I'll Be Gone in the Dark: One Woman's Obsessive Search for the Golden State Killer for Monstrous March

My friend suggested The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet! I JUST got it on Kindle Unlimited! Are you liking it?

message 8: by Kayla (new)

Kayla (kkaylanicole) My TBR is:

- My Point ... and I Do Have One by Ellen DeGeneres (something short)
- The Last Black Unicorn by Tiffany Haddish (favorite color: seafoam & POC rep!)

I can't imagine I'll be able to read any more than that since I just started reading Listen to Your Heart by Kasie West however if time allows, I'll definitely tackle my NetGalley queue:

- Just for Clicks by Kara McDowell
- The Perfect Date by Evelyn Lozada & Holly Lorincz
- The Dating Game by Kiley Roache

Oooh, RA is such a bitch. :( My grandma had it, and they think I'm developing it. Hugs to you ♥ I don't know of RA rep in books off the top of my head, but I'm gonna think on that and see if I can find you something!! For disability rep in general, here are a few I have shelved on my disability shelf on GR:
- The Storm Runner (the MC has a physical disability with one of his legs, I'm not sure what)
- Blanca & Roja (one of the love interests is blind in one eye, I think?)
- The Dollmaker of Krakow (one of the MCs is missing a leg)
- When My Heart Joins the Thousand (the love interest has a genetic disorder and the MC is autistic)
- The Tea Dragon Society (multiple QPOC characters and a character is in a wheelchair)
- A Quiet Kind of Thunder (selective mute MC and deaf love interest)

message 12: by Erika (last edited Feb 28, 2019 06:55PM) (new)

Erika (booksblanketsandahotbeverage) Sounds fun!

I'm currently reading A Dangerous Collaboration by Deanna Raybourn. I think the cover's green. (I'm reading an e-arc on my phone.)

I'm a total mood reader so can't post a TBR (and stick to it), but I'll update with what I get to.

For a short book I do have the second volume of Fence I want to dig into. :) 🤺

Edit: My hold for The Music of What Happens by Bill Konigsberg is ready to pick up from the library this weekend, so that can be my diverse rep. :)

I love Deadman Wonderland!! I really hope you enjoy it, it's my favorite manga series of all time!!

Grace, Queen of Crows and Tomes | 14 comments I probably won't be able to read that much over the next few days, got two tests coming up so we shall see.

Here are the ones I will be working on!!

A Book of Treasured Poems (old poetry collection)
St. Augustine's Confessions: With an English Translation; Volume 1 (cover is my favorite color, red!!)
The Call of Cthulhu (short story)

There might be others, but we'll see as the week goes along!
Good luck to everyone!!

Current reads:
The Best Possible Angle by Lloyd Johnson
Head Over Feet in Love by Patti Smith

TBR:

Again, thanks for including me! 😊

message 36: by Owl (new)

Owl (seeowlread) | 3 comments I posted my readathon on my blog! https://yarnowlreads.wordpress.com/20...

In summary:
Read a book with diverse rep: The Last 8 by Laura Pohl. This comes out on the 5th so it’s my first priority for this weekend. It’s also queer YA sci-fi, which is possibly the perfect combination of genres.
Read something short (graphic novel, poetry collection, novella, etc.): “Sister, Dearest Sister, Let Me Show You the Sea” by Seanan McGuire. This short story is in the collection The Devil and the Deep: Horror Stories of the Sea edited by Ellen Datlow. Ocean horror is a thing I love, so when I saw this collection was only $1.99 on Kindle I couldn’t resist. Then Destiny told me there was a Seanan McGuire story in it that she loved and… well, here we are.
Read something with your favorite color on the cover: Once & Future by Amy Rose Capetta and Cori McCarthy. Purple is my favorite color, and since I also really need to finish this I’m going to say that the nice magenta-blue color on this cover is close enough.

^_^

I'll try to participate in this! Maybe I'll pick up one of the books I'm reading for Reading Olympics. One of the books is October Mourning, which is a group of poems written in honor of a gay college student who was (trigger warning: violence) brutally attacked and murdered when he was twenty-one.
