Share your thoughts on Uncommon Type by Tom Hanks here!

I like Tom Hanks as an actor, and I was hopeful that I would also like him as an author. I was pleasantly surprised to find that he is as good of an author as he is an actor (which honestly seems a little unfair to me; some people get all the talent). I really enjoy short story collections - you get a brief glimpse into a world and usually end up wanting to know more in a satisfying way. I liked all of Hanks' stories, and how he returned to some characters multiple times. The underlying theme of all of the stories was, of course, typewriters. Hanks didn't shove the theme down the reader's throat though, which some authors make the mistake of doing. Overall, this was a pleasant, quick read.
