Yes! Their relationships are perfect!

I was really sad that Greco died, but I knew that someone in the tight circle would. So, I had a feeling from early on in the book and it wasn't much of a surprise. Doesn't mean I didn't cry though, because I was like... choking back sobs. I'm still sad and I finished the book like a week ago.

Yeah, poor Chiara. :'( And Lia's depression really weighed heavily near the end.

You know what really got me, though? Marcello's being depressed and drinking. I was like "Nooo Marcello, stay strong!"

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

They were all so grown-up in this book. Being married and having kids and all. I kind of missed the intensity of the previous books, when they were fighting their attraction for one another. But it WAS nice being with the characters on their journey and watching their personalities mature.

(I think we need SPOILERS written in the title, haha)

Lia's depression really hit me hard....So did Marcello drinking, they both broke my heart....

message 14: by Reese (new)

Reese | 5 comments Okay.....

Luca and Lia pretty much melted my heart and I now have insanely high expectations for my first boyfriend because of Luca Forelli. <3 I absolutely adored all of have it scenes together. Especially when he comes back from finding Orazio and Gallelio. "You are asking about my cousin as I prepare to make love to you...." is one of my all time favorite Luca lines, haha...

Gabi and Marcello, I still love reading about them. This book focused mainly on Lia and Luca but I still loved the Gabi and Marcello scenes. I love how their relationship has kind of evolved from dating (in a sense), then wishing to be engaged, newlyweds and then to parents of little Fortino, through it all, they're still in love and that's what I love about them. You can't break their love for each other ;)

Adri and Ben, they completely broke my heart at the end. With Ben's death and how strong Adri was....I could never be that strong if my husband had died for the second time....

I also loved Chiara and Allesandra and Greco, except when he demanded to know about the tombs and everything and Gabi went into labor. That was like 'Okay, dude....Back it up....' And I still think he had feelings for Gabi even when he was married to Allesandra, not strong feelings but maybe some lingering thoughts of what might have been. But he loved Allesandra deeply and that's what counts.

Lia's depression totally clobbered me....Especially how with Tillani, she didn't feel a lot of joy with her because of everything that had happened. That almost made me cry....And how Luca was trying to pull her out of it and she I just rejected the attempts, finally when Gabi pulled her out and had her sketch and draw her feelings I felt a little bit better. Marcello's drinking also made me really sad and upset....He as so strong and while he didn't get the plague, he still was very affected by it....

I'm so sad the series is over......No series is ever going to be like this one, I'm alway going to keep coming back to River Of Time no matter how many books I read lol

ME TOO! My sister was all mad at him because he was drinking, but I pitied him. How would it feel to be Lord of a Castle, being the leader of everyone, and no matter what you do it seems like the world is ending around you?

We should't have to, if people come to this page it's their fault for what they read if they haven't finished the books. JS

Couldn't have said anything better myself! We definitely experienced it the exact same way! I have never loved a series more!

I was all about not crying in this book and towards the end, I was going real well but then BAM. Lia and the drawings... I wanted to burst out in flames.
That was the most beautiful, poetic thing I have ever read in my life.

Exactly. I was doing okay, emotions wise throughout the book. Minus the anger directly at Barbato....But I got teary eyed with the drawings and when she finally starts crying and Gabi's just holding her.....I literally had to stop myself from bursting into a fit of tears in front of my family haha...

message 20: by Reese (new)

Reese | 5 comments And Sara, no....Sadly, Lisa has already said she's not writing anymore books. But yes, it's a perfect note to leave the series on, hearing about Lia and Greco and Lia's kids!

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

I think she could totally write another spin-off book/series! this time with the kids as the main characters.
Hmm. Maybe it's time for me to write some fanfiction. Haha

I just finished Deluge yesterday and it is really great getting to read all your comments and know others feel the same way I do about it all.
Partway through I was guessing who all was going to die and I was like, "She's not going to kill Greco, too many people love him. She's just not going to do that. She's going to kill him, his death would hurt without ruining Gabi or Lia's lives. She WILL NOT kill him! He's gonna die."
The book was fantastic and ridiculously well written.

message 23: by Ashley (new)

Ashley I was a little anxious before I read this book because I knew it was going to be about the black plague, and that someone was going to die; but I loved this book. I love the way that Lisa Bergren can make someone actually see and feel the setting. I definitely felt like I was in the middle of the black plague.
Bergren did a great job with the ending. It left me wanting to read more about the next generation.

Sara wrote: "What if this series was real? Then Gabi and all the other characters in the book would be doing things as we speak….."

Fictional characters live on. We just need a medium to visit their worlds, and authors decide when to close that door. *Sigh*

This book was so good! Just finished it today! Lia and Luca's story was amazing. But Lia's depression really REALLY weighed down on me. And I love babies and Tiliani sounded so perfect that I couldn't understand why Lia didn't seem to love her baby. And the fact that she also wouldn't let Luca make love to her for nearly two years also broke my heart. Poor guy <\3 and I cried too at Lia's painting of the pictures. I was doing fine with no tears, and then all of a sudden, BAM
Wow
And I really Really REALLY want a spin off series about Tiliani and Chiara and Fortino and them!!

I really really liked what we read of Tiliani and Fortina and Chiara so I would LOVE a spin-off series with them!!!

message 28: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 1 comments I started Waterfall during Christmas break and I immediately had to buy all the books. I finished Deluge a few days ago. Wow! Such a great series! I was surprised by Marcello's drinking but Lisa did a wonderful job of helping us to understand his burdens. I'm glad these characters had flaws because they were so much more real and relatable! No one can ever say that Lisa T. Bergren is predictable!

Leia's depression was heartbreaking. But her thoughts and fears were understandable. It was so beautiful to see how her sister helped her break through the pain. These characters will definitely be staying with me. I look forward to reading more of her books. I'm also happy to be a part of the River Tribe!

She's writing another River of Time book--set in a different place/time period with different characters. It won't be related to the first five books except it's a time-slip novel also. It's called Three Wishes & should be out soon.

Just in case that is what you were thinking?
