Is anyone watching "the Passage" television adaption? What do you think of the casting? What do you think of the differences from the book?

I stopped watching after episode 4. Things were just moving too slowly as the virals had not yet escaped. It was obvious they were not likely to finish the book this season. I wonder how many seasons they were planning to drag it out?
As for the cast, I had no problems with them. I was surprised they made Babcock a woman, but lately it seems there is a rule that a show can't be picked up unless it has a hot, badass female character. Of course if they ever get to The Colony in the future, there would be Alicia.
BTW, I gave the book 5 stars.

I read The Passage when it first came out in 2010. I can’t believe it’s been 9 years so I got it out again and started rereading it. The series is entirely different. I like it but it’s certainly not the book I read and loved.
I have to say that me likey. The changes don't bother me that much but I do keep seeing book Amy as the black kid that she is in thw series. In the book it just felt like Cronin wanted to fast forward, well, fast. At the moment (I'm in Finland) the series is at the point where the virals have just been let loose and to me things are just getting interesting. Was really rooting for Amy to just turn around in that tunnel and actually cheered when she did. Really hope there is second season.
I loved the book, and I'm proud to say that I found it early and sang its praises. As for the show, it's watchable. The structure of the book doesn't lend itself to series television, at least not in a way that is marketable with familiar actors. I did like the actresses who played Amy and Babcock, and Zach Morris is solid.
I am so disappointed that the series won’t be continued on tv. But the books are too big for tv anyway. They really need Netflix or Hulu to create the series, where they have the budget to do the virals right, the way they appear in the books. I would gladly sign any petition to bring these books to life in a format that would show us all of the characters, stories and visual effects that appeared on the pages of these books.
The Passage is one of my favourite books. I've read it twice and may well read the whole series again. The TV adaptation doesn't even come close to doing the book justice. I don't think it's the actors (not all of them anyway). I think it boils down to what they've been given to work with. Too many changes were made for my liking, and the budget was clearly too low for something as spectacular as Justin Cronin's virals. I would dearly love to see a high budget adaptation made that sticks to the book(s) as closely as possible.
Just as a side note: I also thought Amy was too old, and too confident in the TV series. Nothing against the young actress, she was (is) a fine actress, but Amy was much more vulnerable in the book.
