Andromeda
Here's a very unpolished rough synopsis of what Andromeda will be about... For too long, Falconer, son of Hearken the king of the Hawklands, has been biding his time far away from his homeworld, spending his days as an Earthling in the Milky Way Galaxy. An old evil is stirring in the realm of Arhmea, and if no one can prevent it from rising once more, annihilation will be the consequence.
When an unexpected attack results in the death of an Earth-dwelling Arhmean, pieces of an ancient puzzle start to come together at last-- opening the way for a new generation of heroes. It is time to reunite the divided powers of Andromeda, one by one. But first, there are some very unseemly obstacles blocking the way...
Heroes must arise before the world sinks... But what if it's sinking already?
Seriously, I can never get the synopsis of this book right. It is so frustrating.
Sounds interesting! That synopsis isn't too bad. How long is this book right now? But yeah, I do feel you about putting your darling books through so many drafts, that's me with My Time in Amar. First stories are always the hardest ;PWill there happen to be any Greek mythology elements in this story as well? *wink* *wink*
Haha, really? I've rewritten this synopsis at least a bajillion times. *gags* Anyway... xD Yes, Nicki, there miiiighhht be a little bit of mythological influence in this world's makeup... Sort of. Basically, everything I write is a sort-of of everything else. (Does that even make any sense? xD)
Oh, and you asked me another question. xD I'm not actually sure how long it'll turn out, what with my snipping and trimming and adding and such. It will be a full-length novel for sure, maybe around 130K? *wild guess*
That last line though... *heart eyes* I'll be waiting for the publication of this! Also, 130K words?! That's crazy! The YA genre (I'm guessing that's what yours is in? Maybe not) keeps bumping up what is a common word count, leaving my short, little novel in the dust XD

LOL Thanks! I hope to get traditionally published though, so that'll be a loooong wait. xD
And yes, I know. But I have some very busy plots. ;) And I wouldn't exactly classify this series into the YA genre, since I hope it'll end up a little broader than that (I like to reach a bigger audience, since some of my favorite books are for a younger audience!). And don't worry! Novellas and short novels are still really refreshing!

YA is a very broad term, honestly. I would say mine fits into that genre, but it fits into quite a few XD
Hopefully traditional publishing works out! Good luck!
Thanks, you two's! :) So, with Camp NaNo coming up this April, guess which story I'll be busy drafting? *groan* Andromeda has been my trouble child since forever. It had better turn out right this time.
I completely understand. And for a writer I honestly don't participate in the NaNo's for whatever odd reason. Never have.

Novels are always troublesome *sighs*
Elizabeth wrote: "I completely understand. And for a writer I honestly don't participate in the NaNo's for whatever odd reason. Never have."I did it for the first time this past year and guess which book it was? XD
Elizabeth wrote: "I completely understand. And for a writer I honestly don't participate in the NaNo's for whatever odd reason. Never have."LOL That's okay though, I feel you
Because of that, I don't write out the entire novel within the NaNo month. I only write out a certain amount of it. :)
*dances* I finished the outline of the outline of this novel last night!! :DDD ... I'm sure that made no sense. xD
I just laid down the bare bones of the story, to be refined and trimmed into shape later. I find that I don't need to be that detailed in planning this one, because I've already done it so many times that I kind of know exactly what's going to happen by heart.
That's awesome!!Although I seriously find it strange to hear people saying things like that because I don't write an outline for my books. ^.^

Haha, same! I form an idea in my head and then run with it!
But I'm so happy for you, Merie. That's awesome!
xD Thanks, girls! @Elizabeth actually, I happen to know several writers who do "seat-of-the-pants," or "pantsing," writing. I'm an outliner, a planner. I used to not outline my books before writing them, but I found that I don't function well without a plan.
That's cool. And hey, everybody works differently so I couldn't work with an outline and couldn't work without one. ^.^
Well, what can I say? I'm an organized person. :DDD And Shine, I'll have you know that a huge majority of all my story ideas find their root origins in my dreams. ;)
Well, there are none for Andromeda, I'm afraid, but many of my other (currently unshared) projects are inspired by dreams. :P
Yeah, everyone works differently. Even though I don't know the feeling, it must be pretty great to finish writing that outline!
SHINE wrote: "I’m so excited about stories from Dreams!"I've never created a story from one of my dreams... is that odd?
Elizabeth wrote: "How much do you get written in a day on average in any one of your stories?"Not sure, typically at least 800 words a day? Depends on how much stuff I have to get done before I have time for it. :P
Oceane wrote: "SHINE wrote: "I’m so excited about stories from Dreams!"I've never created a story from one of my dreams... is that odd?"
Nope, not odd at all! I'm just one of those peeps who like to draw inspiration from anything that sounds or feels as though it'd work in a book. Some mornings I wake up from a dream and think, "Wow, how would that work if I put [random event] into a story?" Also because I remember almost every single dream I've ever had from the time I was seven. :P And my subconscious is capable of making up some pretty interesting things.

That's really awesome that you can do that! I rarely have dreams that can inspire stories :/
Okay, so I started writing this weekend, and... *exhale* I didn't mean for it to be so intense. Right now I'm debating whether to share a snippet.

SHARE!
"Tick-tock, tick-tock, your time is running fast. Hurry, Guardian; I might spare you if you give me the key.""I don't know what you're talking about," Will said, the lie tumbling out before he could think about it. "I don't have a key for you."
Immediately the red ribbon darted up to his head and slapped him.
This is part of probably what is one of the creepiest scenes I have ever written... :( xD
Oh. My. O.O This looks like fun, and now you've inspired me!! Thanks Merie!! That's what I needed right now. :P

Wow, thanks! And you're welcome... I'm curious as to how. ;)
Ha, ha . . . well I was coming up to a dark scene and I didn't know how I wanted it to play out. xD But you have me an idea . . . 😬 and now I've ruined my character's lives.

Oooo, I like dark scenes! Nice work, Merie.
Well, whatever the case, I'm glad I helped you with that. :D I guess description is one of my "strong" points in writing-- just to say, xD-- so things might get a lot creepier than they're supposed to. O.O Thanks, Oceane! :)
Hey, that's wonderful!! I'm a description freak, so any magical / fantasy book can't be good without an overload of details!! ^.^
*shuffles away because description is almost as hard to write as emotions* But that scene was awesome, Merie!
Oof, descriptions are not my strong suit... I always struggle with them, but it's good to know that you, Elizabeth and Merie, do not!
Yeah, good for you, Elizabeth and Merie, Oceane and I will just be over here still trying to learn how to describe a setting XD

I remember that a big part of this creation is my daddy's bedtime stories for my sister and me when we were little kids. :D I used to love those stories... still do. Anyway, the three main characters of those stories do appear in this series (yes, this is a series, and probably going to be a pretty long one at that), so you can expect to meet them-- as well as my other pets-- soon.
This is a series, and I have pretty much every single book in it planned out, but it's not one of your typical one-continuous-storyline kind of series. That would make it way too long and way too boring. Each book will feature a new main character, but draws from the same cast and is set in the same world (and mostly based near the same... institution).
Genre: Portal fantasy (!), epic fantasy (kinda?), and sort of animal fantasy (but very vaguely so... I'll explain xD)
Currently working on book one, which bears the same name as the series title. So when I talk about Andromeda , you should know that I mean the first book in the series.
(I've been working on the darned thing for four years now and am prepared for draft number 153-- or something. This time it had better turn out right.)
More to come! :)
