What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

I am looking for a fantasy series a student of mine read in middle school with twin brothers as the main characters. The boys lived in a society locked in by walls. One brother disappears (through some sort of a ritual) and the brothers are on a mission to find one another again.

When were you in middle school?

How old were the brothers? Was this YA or MG?

Kinda reminds me of Taken, but I'm not sure about the twin aspect.

I knew there were brothers in Taken. Just couldn't recall whether they were twins, lol.
