So much sadness and loss even if we don’t have the full stories behind Tom’s mother and Isabel’s brothers.

I found it interesting how deeply affected Isabel was by the visit to the orphanage - even more than the friend she went with who had actually surrendered a baby to that place.

Opposites truly attract don’t they? Tom is so structured and precise. He’s punctual, orderly and feels like a rule follower. Izzy seems to live freely and by emotion. I’m worried about their vast differences. I’m also worried about Izzy living on Janus. She wanted to know about Sydney and considered Partageuse boring. What will she think of Janus when she lives there cut off from civilization? The meaning of Patageuse seems to be important... it means “good at sharing” and also “dividing”.

Looking back, that meaning is very telling of what is to come. This is a book I will definitely reread for these little extras that mean even more the second time around.
