Poor Tom. He is so conflicted! Izzy is living in a fantasy, and I have a feeling trouble is right around the corner.

I just read this book and it sure got to me. I almost wanted to pitch it across the room!

Oh boy, this isn’t going to be good. That’s someone’s baby!

I can certainly see Isabel’s reasons for wanting to keep the baby. But poor Tom - it seems that Isabel is fully immersed in motherhood but Tom fights the enjoyment of fatherhood.

The poor mother! I felt so sad for her.

I’m trying to figure out how they found the baby alive, but no one else. I’m wondering if the mother survived. I understand why Isabel wanted to keep the baby. Even her rationalizations make sense, but I’m afraid it won’t end well.

Finding the baby alive, the father dead, the mother nowhere, Isabel suffering yet another lost baby... what a collision of forces.

These chapters are heart wrenching. Poor Izzy, poor Tom. I feel so badly for him but am overwhelmed by his love for his wife. As a rule-follower, it’s killing him to do this for her but he does it anyway. There’s no better definition/example of love. She says she knows what it cost him but i don’t think she does. I feel badly for her as well and can’t say what I’d do in the same situation. These are the most beautiful, happy, and sad chapters so far.
