Isabel is making me crazy. I can understand her wanting to keep up appearances, especially with her parents so happy. But wow, she doubled down when she learned who Lucy really belonged to. I’m afraid there’s no turning back now.

Then hearing the backstory of Hannah and Frank makes this much worse. They seem like they would have been great parents had they been given the chance.

Did Tom leave the note for Hannah? If it was him, years of his handwriting in the lighthouse logs is going to make it pretty easy to compare.

Deborah (debh56) | 63 comments I was also wondering if Tom left the note. If the truth comes out about the baby, so many bad things will happen. But, to hide the truth from a mother is wrong. I think the truth is bound to come out eventually.

Myra | 48 comments Oh, I didn't think about his lighthouse records that could be compared to the note if he was the one who wrote it. It's an awful situation they put themselves in. I am feeling sad for all of them.

I felt the same.

deana everett | 124 comments I think it’s certain that Rom left the note. He’s torn completely apart with guilt and I’m sure did this both to try to give Hannah some comfort but to assuage his guilt. I try to put myself in the chsracter’s shoes. I could see and somewhat understand Izzy’s decisions up until she found out that Hannah was still alive and missing her child. Regardless of consequences, she should have done the right thing and taken the baby to her. Tom loves her so much but he should have stood up to her and insisted they return the baby to her mother. I feel so badly for everyone involved but mostly for Hannah. I can’t omagine losing one of my children. I love how the author mirrored Izzy’s comments about God with Frank’s. People justify events by saying it’s God’s will or that God will always come through. But most of the time someone is on the other end of things... they are experiencing sorrow while you are experiencing joy. How can that have anything to do with God?

Deana, that is one of those platitudes that has really harmed my faith. I completely agree with you - my pain is not someone else's joy. And to top that off, it's somehow all orchestrated by God? Maybe I'm wrong and that is how it works but I find more comfort in believing that we all have a free will to make the right or wrong choice. I tend to believe that God's (or a higher power) "will" is that we make the right choices. Beyond that, it's on us.
