Today is the day. They just told me, during breakfast. The day... I've been waiting for this day for 3 months, 2 days, 7 hours, 41 minutes and 22 seconds. 23. 24. 25. But that's not the point, and I'm getting ahead of myself. Let me explain who I am.

I am Julane, or that is the name I currently use. I've had many names in the last 17 years. Abby, Lenore, Kiyoko, Meryem. It's not easy, being always on the run. My mom started running again when I was 7 months. I was called Eunice back then. Can you imagine? Me being a Eunice? It was weird, in the beginning, but I understood why... I'm currently living in Babbit, Minnesota, but I won't be here for long. Because today is the day. The day we're leaving again. To Silverstreet, South Calolina this time. Population: 216. Gotta love the small towns....

Maybe I should explain why we run. We're what they call 'exceptional'. Because honestly, what 2 year old can recognize a Fibonacci sequence, and reproduce it? But it's not like my parents were surprised...
My mom can reproduce anything she hears. She learns languages in an hour, and will speak them fluently within two days. My dad, he can make anything. And then I mean anything. I once wanted a life-size copy of myself made entirely out of LEGOs. He not only build it, he made it move. Of course, it was a waist of his talents, and I had to leave it behind. I never keep stuff. Never, except my journal. It's always in my backpack, next to my 4 different passports of 3 countries (I've always wanted to be French); 6 different birth-certificates (2 of those make me 21, but my dad would kill me if I drank alcohol...) and cash (300 American dollars, 200 pounds, 600 euro and 1500 Chinese yuans, but that's beside the point...). We run, because of what we can do.

Today is the day. I know the drill. I go to school, head to class. Somewhere during my day I'll find a note in my locker. A note, and a pill. The pill will make me so ill they'll have to call my mom. My mom will collect me, call school in the morning saying I won't be back for a while, and then I'm gone. My name won't be what it currently is, and my home not where it is now. All within a day. Or, 1 day plus 3 months, 2 days, 7 hours, 49 minutes and 53 seconds. 54. 55. 56.
