I can't be the only one who went halfway through chapter 75 and thought: Wait! I didn't read Brent Weeks to get paranormal fantasy! (Not that I have anything against the genre, as my bookshelf can attest to) Still, a freaking brilliant piece of work that nearly blew my mind off. Will definitely need to reread this one multiple times
HA. yes I was a bit confused at first then restarted the chapter all over again! It is brilliant but I'm still thinking about it. I can't remember which book but it reminded me of a similar scene in on of the Night Angel books. And I didn't care too much for it then. IDK I may change my tune once I'm done with the entire book.
I'm pretty sure it reminded you of the first time Kylar met The Wolf, because that's what it reminded me of. Especially when he first started describing its face (or the light-mask, whatever)
I quite like the swearing myself adds a bit of reality. When you read books with hardened soldiers and the most foul words they use are bloody and crap haha
Chapter 69. We got a creation story. So there was Orholam who created Light and then the First Ones. The greatest of the First Ones stole the Light from Orholam and later on was called the Lightbearer by the 200 who followed him. They were at war ever since. Orholam uses Prisms to chain the light. Where does the Lightbringer comes in then? Is he on Orholam's side or the Lightbearer's side? If he is at the latter"s camp and the Prism is on Orholam's side, and if Kip is the Lightbringer and Gavin/Dazen is the Prism, will they be enemies at the end? How about Lucidonius, if he was the Lightbringer as the Order believed and then became the Chromeria's first Prism what camp was he fighting for then? Was he even a natural Prism?Chapter 71. So paryl makes you empathic since it's way beyond sub-red, does that mean chi makes you uncaring?
Shimmercloaks can only be used by lightsplitters. In The Blinding Knife we met Vox who was a green drafter and since he's a Shimmercloack he can split light right? Therefore lightsplitters can be drafters of any color and not just paryl, right?
Paryl makes other color more vibrant, imagine the advantages it will give to a polychrome if it enhances the colors he could draft.
Chapter 73. Did you notice it too? "Seven colors - more - roared through Kip..."
Chapter 75. "Kip. Kip? Not your birth name, is it?" What then is Kip's true birth name?!
So, Kip meets the Lightbringer. If Kip was the Lightbringer, how then did he meets the Lightbringer? If we went with the creation story on Chapter 69 could we assume that this Lightbringer is the same as the Lightbearer in the story?
He created a pistol, was he the one who made the Blinder's Knife as well?
