I love how the author describes the joining of the two powers - Sarkan and Agnieszka's. Now I cannot stop! I'm finishing this tonight!
It is quite beautiful. I thought it was a wonderful metaphor for a relationship. I really enjoy his character.
I finished the book last night. Haven't rated it yet. For me it is not quite a 4 star read but better than a 3. If only Goodreads had 1/2 stars. Going to give it a little more time...
I hope that everyone enjoyed participating in the group read! I enjoyed this one but found the writing to be a little jarring at times. I did however really enjoy how descriptive it was and in particular the lush nature chapters. I loved Sarkan. I found his way of being quite funny actually, though his distance from humanity was quite sad. I really enjoyed the flashbacks and detail provided regarding the past inhabitants of the valley. Overall, I gave it four stars and I am excited to check out her next one!
Well this probably won't make much sense but my main issue with this book was the length and the format. I'm never a fan of long chapters but will adjust if chapter length is necessary and complimentary to the flow of the story. To me it felt like this could've been better if it had been 2 books rather than one. As long as it was, the second half of the book felt rushed. It was one battle after another without much buildup and after a while it became monotonous and repetitive. The writing was quite good and lyrical but a lot of it in my opinion was unnecessary. I did enjoy the storyline and characterization but for me the format just didn't work. So I'm rating it 3 stars (really 3.5). Think it would make a great movie :)
I agree that the chapters were a bit on the long side. I also would love to have had more development on the flashbacks. I’d be interested in a prequel for sure.
