Kelsey Stoltenberg | 9 comments When reading "Night" by Elie Wiesel I could not put the book down. This is a true story of the well detailed events of the Holocaust for Eliezer and his family. The story begins in 1942 when he describes his want of learning the Zohar. He and his family are Jews from the town of Sighet, Transylvania. He describes the transformations between each stage in the Germans oppression of the Jewish. From the ghettos to their "journey" away from the front line where they soon learned they are being transported Auschwitz. Elie had no idea in what he was entering when they walked into this concentration camp. The smell of burning flesh and being separated from his sister and mother is what welcomed him to the camp. At the age fifteen he will soon see and receive the most harsh treatment humanly possible. The book goes into great detail of what it was like for those in the camp. The pain inflicted, starvation, fear of death all in great detail. You see in the story his faith in God diminish day by day, and how he made it out. This book is overwhelmingly heartbreaking. It gives true insight into the devastation of the Jewish people during the Holocaust. This story is well written and full of tears through the time of genocide. I recommend this book for those who are interested or are learning about the Holocaust. "Wiesel's testimony as to what happened in the camps and his unforgettable message that this horror must never be allowed to happen again."
