I have two possible first chapters for my finished epic fantasy novel and I need feedback on which one works better. Together they are about 4300 words. I think the first is more intriguing, but the second gives clearer expectations for the plot though I'm told it's too much exposition. Would love some feedback from readers, especially those that read fantasy, on what would hook them better into the story. Thanks and cheers!

Are you interested in trading for reviewing my first chapter for my reviewing yours? The first chapter is about 4300 words. The log line for my completed fantasy novel is: The fate of a world rests on a young druid wished into existence whose untrained magic brings about the collapse of the druid order and the death of his closest friend. The vision of an arrow striking the druidess he loves sends him on a journey to save her whereupon he meets a cantankerous old mage who takes him on as an apprentice to become a Druid Master.
If interested, email me at mi.cote@northeastern.edu. The first chapter is so important, I want to make sure it is as compelling as possible before sending to a literary agent.
