Nikki ~ The Nocturnal Bookworm (nyxreadsstuff) Discussion for Gyo by Junji Ito, which is a collection of both volumes. Spoilers for the whole series allowed.

Something is rotten in Okinawa... The floating smell of death hangs over the island. What is it? A strange, legged fish appears on the scene... So begins Tadashi and Kaori's spiral into the horror and stench of the sea. Here is the creepiest masterpiece of horror manga ever from the creator of Uzumaki, Junji Ito. Hold your breath until all is revealed.

I loved the death-stench circus! The art in this book was cool and creepy, but the dialog wasn't the best. I thought the best part was the bonus story at the end about the fault - that was awesome!

Suki St Charles (goodreadscomsuki_stcharles) | 6 comments Gyo is probably my least favorite Junji Ito story, but it still gets 5 stars from me! I love the detail he puts into each panel of his artwork, and I love his bizarre storylines.

I agree with you-- the bonus story about the fault was amazing! It hit on almost all the things that make me cringe.

Jamie Zaccaria Finally got my copy in from the library. I guess I was expecting the brilliance of Uzumaki but this was a letdown, gross and repetitive and just not satisfying.

However, I loved the bonus Enigma story!
