Sharon Cox (bodleian) | 101 comments Thought that I would start a new folder as the last one is rather full.
Gilli has posted another entry for March and it's vintage Gilli. I'm still laughing.

Andrea | 156 comments i read it!!!! oh gilli is having a hard time with dick there

message 3: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl | 395 comments He really is!! Although he mentioned something that could be worse - if Shane decided to work from home. Yikes.

At least they won't be moving. Gilli loves the quasi-mansion, and I'm sure leaving it would be very hard on him.

message 4: by Andrea (new)

Andrea | 156 comments Really missing Gilli.
I hope everything is ok and he's just doing stuff.

message 5: by MiChElLe (new)

MiChElLe (mic0610) | 48 comments I know - it’s been over a month. Come on Gilli - we need to know you’re okay.

message 6: by Karen (new)

Karen | 92 comments Sometimes I wonder if it’s because he’s being punished and being off of the computer is a big form of punishment for him.

message 7: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl | 395 comments It seems to me that Gilli always goes dark at this time of year. He loves being outside when the weather is good. I just hope that that's the reason, and not all the turmoil going on in England. Brexit must be affecting Shane and Dick and, of course, what affects them affects Gilli.

message 8: by Andrea (new)

Andrea | 156 comments indeed.

Gilli if you reads us give us some smoke signals!

message 9: by Nells (new)

Nells | 3 comments Do you think if something bad happened that dick or Shane would update his site to let us know?

message 10: by Karen (new)

Karen | 92 comments Gilli has said that if something happened Shane would let us know.

message 11: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl | 395 comments I went back a couple of years to check my recollection of other times Gilli has gone dark. The 2 longest periods (for this time of year) are: 2 years ago Jan. 31 - March 20. He started the March 20 entry like this, "Don’t panic! Don’t panic! I’m not dead. " A year ago he went from Feb 5 to April 6.

I think there was another even longer period in the fall a year or two ago. As Karen posted, Gilli said after one of those long absences that if anything happened, Shane would let us know.

So, in this case, no news is good news. I'm assuming he's outdoors enjoying the good weather and taunting the landscaper.

message 12: by Andrea (new)

Andrea | 156 comments it must be that, for sure.
anyways, gilli, say hi or something!

message 13: by Karen (new)

Karen | 92 comments I emailed him yesterday that everyone is worried and if he could just put a one line entry on his site that would help us all not worry about him. I haven’t heard back yet though.

Becky Klieheg (thatbecky) | 1 comments Gilli just posted a new short post.

(also hi everyone! just recently discovered Gilli and have been lurking on here)

message 15: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl | 395 comments Thanks for the heads up, Becky. I'm delighted you came out of hiding! Let me be the first to welcome you. Gilli is a delight, isn't he? We all just love him to pieces.

message 16: by Andrea (new)

I honestly do it once a year. His stories bring me so much joy:)

message 22: by Andrea (new)

Andrea | 156 comments New entry for June!

Poor Gilli.... I'm not from the UK but i see the news there and yeah, he is pissed, rightly so.

message 23: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl | 395 comments I agree, Andrea. Bad enough that the political situation is so toxic. He can't even enjoy his garden. I wonder why he's had such an influx of plant destroying insects? I don't remember this happening before. It would help his mood so much if he had his gardening as an escape.

message 24: by Andrea (new)

Andrea | 156 comments yeah, really. i wonder if it's something concerning the ground on which the house was built... maybe it's just bad ground to plant anything? i've cero idea of gardening other than the fact that i wish my garden looked beautiful by just clicking my fingers lol.

message 25: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl | 395 comments I'm with you, Andrea. Gardening isn't my thing. I can't imagine it's the soil, since they've lived there for 15+ years.

I have a couple of things I rely on to keep me glued together during these uncertain times, I'd go off the rails if I couldn't enjoy those things. So I totally understand why Gilli's frustration with his garden would be pretty much the final straw with everything else that's going on in the UK.

message 26: by Candi (last edited Jun 11, 2019 10:56PM) (new)

Candi Rose | 1 comments Does anyone know how to email Gillibran? I love his diary, his books, his recipes and want to send him a note Thanking him for his work.

message 27: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl | 395 comments Gillibran_brown@yahoo.co.uk

He reads all his emails, Candi. I'm sure he'll love hearing from you.

Sharon Cox (bodleian) | 101 comments Gilli has posted a second entry for June.

message 29: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Cox (bodleian) | 101 comments Gilli has posted an entry for August.

message 30: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl | 395 comments Hooray - I'm off to read it. Thanks, Sharon

message 31: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl | 395 comments OK - I'm a little nervous about something Gilli said in his diary entry - about people wanting more from him than what's on offer. I usually send him an email after each entry just commenting on what he's written (usually commiserating, actually). Do you think that's what he's talking about? I obviously don't expect a reply and have never asked for one. I did send him a very brief email last week telling him I hoped he got his garden sorted because I know how much he enjoys it.

Of course it may be that he's getting emails pushing him to finish Revelations or wanting more activity on the diary and that's what he's talking about.

Any thoughts?

message 32: by Karen (new)

Karen | 92 comments I have found that a lot of excellent authors suffer from anxiety-depression and a whole host of other things... when they find success in their writing and people start asking what’s next for the characters it puts a lot of pressure on the authors to produce and to produce a product at the same caliber as the previous writings. With social media what it is today, authors are stopping in the midst of series bc of the pressures. liissa kasey, Jex Lane, are currently taking s break , t j Klune struggled but came back stronger than ever and I think but not sure about isobel starling and Nicola haken just to name a few. It’s sad bc these authors are so talented. I try to never pressure Gilli and just encourage him or tell him what his writings mean to me or how I related to them.

message 33: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl | 395 comments Me too, Karen. I've said to him multiple times that if he doesn't want to finish Rev, it's ok with me. I'm happy with the occasional diary entry and a short story when the mood strikes.

One thing he mentioned that I hadn't taken into account was the medication he's on. That could certainly make a huge difference.

message 34: by Andrea (new)

Andrea | 156 comments i think he was talking about what some may ask of him on his diary... it didn't sounded to me like he was talking about his book. it sounded, to me, more as if some ppl were asking him to be more active or do more things with his blog. because he was saying that he used the diary to write some of his thoughts and actions, nothing more. so i took as that.

message 35: by Andrea (new)

Andrea | 156 comments sorry double post, im on my phone.
yes, he mentioned in one of his books and some past entries his medication fogged his brain sometimes, made him tired. it's a common side effect of medication for many psychology/brain treatments

message 36: by Selen (last edited Aug 13, 2019 03:25AM) (new)

Selen | 31 comments It seemed to me like some people wanted to know more about Gilli than he wanted to share. I am very glad that Revs is in progress and that he will continue the blog. I would also like to say that I am sorry for their loss.

message 37: by Mi (new)

Mi | 13 comments Gilli updated again. He has decided to take a break from the diary, unfortunately. The next time he posts will be when he will have finished Revs 😕
He shared a cute story too.
I'll miss his chattering a lot.

message 38: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl | 395 comments Oh dear. I'm so sorry to hear that. I'll miss him SO much, but considering his last post, I guess I'm not surprised. I'll have to follow up my words with actions. I've always said I'm content with what's on offer and not press for more, so I'll restrain myself from emailing him and begging him not to give up the diary. All the same, my heart is a little broken. My personal preference was that he scrap Rev, keep doing the diary, and put out the occasional short story as the mood struck him.

So sad.

But I truly do support whatever decision he makes.

message 39: by Andrea (new)

Andrea | 156 comments my only hope is that he is not so far away to finish revs, and maybe just a couple of months.
it's ok gilli
but please! don't take too long.

i mean he could just say "im ok" and that'd be it. but it's his choice so.

message 40: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl | 395 comments I've now read the diary entry and I have to say it really doesn't sound temporary - more like a farewell. Maybe he'll post something to let us know he's finished Revelations, but it seems like he's discontinuing the posts about his day to day life.

I'm following him on Goodreads. Will that be enough to get a notification if and when he publishes something new? I don't know how to follow him on Amazon. It said to go to the 'author page', but I couldn't find one for Gilli.

message 41: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 28 comments I've have also read the diary entry and it didn't sound as a temporary hiatus for me either. I'm sad to see this happening but I also think this was coming. I just hope he will finish Revs and that he will let us know when it happens. Must say I will miss scouring the site every day and looking forward for a new diary entry, how short or long it might be.

message 42: by Bree Cheese (new)

Bree Cheese (bree-cheese) | 24 comments Just saw the entry, poor Gilli. It's got to be a lot of work to keep up the dairy all these years. I'll miss him, but I get it.

I've always been good with anything he can give us. If he finishes Revs that would be amazing, if not, I'll just keep re-reading the books that are out there:)

message 43: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Cox (bodleian) | 101 comments I certainly hope that this is just a temporary break and that he will come back but I will understand if he doesn't. What I will do is visit his diary and check his books page. When Revs is published he will put the information there.

message 44: by Bastion (new)

Bastion | 5 comments Have any of you read Hobo Dancing, the third (partial?) chapter of Revelations? I just accidently found it on his website, and didn't know if anyone else had seen it. I found it under My Books, clicked on Auld Lang Syne, the link to Hobo Dancing is at the end of that chapter.

message 45: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl | 395 comments Bastion - you just became my BFF. No, I didn't see that link to Hobo Dancing. I wonder when he added that? AND, I wonder if we'll be able to track his progress as we see other chapters. There's no link to it, but it looks like Chapter 4 will be Bastard Craig.

Kudos.

message 46: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Cox (bodleian) | 101 comments Thank you for telling us about Hobo Dancing. That was one hell of a snippet. I hope that Revs is published soon. I need to know what happened.

message 47: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (quarterlifepotato) | 35 comments I just read the Hobo Dancing teaser... Now I am dying to know who the mysterious man was.. do you have idea?

message 48: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Cox (bodleian) | 101 comments I have no idea about the mystery man so perhaps we should reread from book 1. I have a feeling that we won’t get any more snippets.

message 49: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (quarterlifepotato) | 35 comments Indeed the next time we read it is probably when the book is out. I'm so excited for that day.
I am now going to start rereading most specially Christmas at Leo's where that man tried to hit on Gilli..

message 50: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Cox (bodleian) | 101 comments Good point. I will reread it and then go back to book 1
