Play Book Tag discussion

Welcome back to Castle Rock! Scott Carey has something weird happening to his body. He is losing weight regularly and fast while not outwardly changing at all, and no matter what he brings with him on the scale - his clothes, his shoes, his dumbbells - he always weighs the same. While he tries to figure out the mystery illness with his friend and doctor Bob, he has to deal with his two new neighbours, first because their dogs keep pooping on his lawn, and then because they're lesbians and Castle Rock is a Republican town and they hate the restaurant they run and he wants to help them.

This novella was both really unlike SK (no horror, nothing terrible happening) and really on brand (if you follow him on Twitter, lol). Castle Rock of course ties it into the larger universe, but this little story was full of political snark and wit that I enjoyed very much. The ending was bittersweet, and that made it even better, in my opinion.

I think this is a great way to read SK if you're not a fan of his usual horror/supernatural genre.
