A book focused on three characters and none of them the actual protagonist. Instead, the main character is family. And it works. I found this story to be a very poignant tale of alternative families, how we find each other, and how we decide who to include in our lives. While it very much played to the young adult audience with a few simplistic tropes, Benway still gave a deeply satisfying portrayal of finding yourself and your tribe.
