I do not like to feel rushed when reading a book because it is my time then to relax and enter a different world. Also, when I am forced to read a book for school I can enjoy if it is good.

I always like the books I read for school, but I haven't been doing it long! I'm guessing I'm a little younger than you but I don't want to give my age. I always like the books a little at the least but I would always rather be reading something else, like a book I want to tead

I've only had to read a book then do a before school assignment a few times, but I bet you agree when I say the assignment after is the WORST!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds boring! I haven't really read any terrible books, but I feel your pain!

I had to read The Glory Fields for a group project and it was so bad that I did not even finish the book. The book was so boring!

Good question, AnnMarie. There were definitely some books I didn't care for, but I think overall I tended to like the books we had to read in school. In middle school my favorites we had to read were probably The Odyssey and the few Edgar Allan Poe stories we covered. I didn't like Romeo & Juliet, but later on in high school I really enjoyed Hamlet and Macbeth. I also really liked Animal Farm, To Kill a Mocking Bird, and The Lottery to name a few. At the time I hated reading The Canterbury Tales because of the Middle English, but I think it might just be something I need to revisit and give a second chance since I hear it is actually quite good.

During my freshman year of high school, I liked reading the hero's journey books, The Odyssey. Also, some of the writings from Edgar Allen Poe like Dee. I was a fan of the Romeo and Juliet story but was not proud about the ending. I cannot wait to see what readings there will be for me this year in school, hopefully they are good and there will be time to read them. No rushing and forcing to be finished by a certain time.

I would love that! I think my trick to liking books at least a little is to allow no distractions so you really get into the book!

My trick is to put yourself as the character, and feel their problems, sadness, happiness, fear, and try to picture what they will do next! It makes me like almost any book, unless the character is really really really boooorrriiiiinnnnggggg!

My favorite in school was . I also thoroughly enjoyed To Kill a Mockingbird, A Midsummer's Night Dream and The Count of Monte Cristo.
The ones I liked the least were A Child Called It and On the Color Line. They weren't bad, just not my favorite.

I don't want to read Romeo and Juliet cause I know the whole story cause its popular, and why would I want to read the book if its all to have them die at the end!

Well hopefully during the school year there are some good books to read.

I have to say, I always enjoy reading books, unless it's some boring historical book like The Jungle. Even when I am forced to read it for summer reading, I still find myself enjoying the story. I could enjoy it a little more if I didn't have to write down every single little detail that happens on every single page in every single chapter!!!!! I wish I could just read a book for the sake of reading the book. No notes, no test when I got back; just giving the teachers a sure sign that I no doubt read the book and enjoyed it!

It is 10 times better to read it on your own...that way you can cry and not be judged.
