I believe that there is more than one theme because there are two main characters. The theme for Day’s section of the book would be, stay true to your morals. I believe that because he doesn’t try to change himself to impress people he meets. Another reason is that when he was at the emergency banquet in Denver he didn’t try to impress anyone because he didn’t want to change himself for them. I think the theme for June’s section of the book is doing what's best for her. I think that because she always is closed off because she doesn’t want to get hurt even more after her family had died. So I think that causes her to put herself first in most situations.
