I tried to start this thread without linking an author on the topic header. But something is not letting me do it! Anyhow updated it now.

Please merge Joseph K. Jose into Joseph Annamkutty Jose

On the English edition, the author name is given as Joseph K. Jose. The books under the other profile are all in Malayam, so Joseph Annamkutty Jose should be changed into the Malayam version of the name.

(Also, Joseph Annamkutty Jose does not encompass Joseph K. Jose, so they should not be merged anyway.)

I believe they are the same person, that is not the point.

The point is that Goodreads policy states that the author name should be added as on the cover, and that in the case of a translated author, the name on the English/international editions should be primary on all the author's books, and the name as on the cover (if different) should be secondary.

Also, a shorter name may only be merged into a longer one if it is fully encompassed by it. So if there would be covers with Joseph Annamkutty Jose and Joseph A. Jose, both profiles could be merged.

In this case, the new English edition has the full name. Goodreads policy states that the name the first edition was published under should be primary. So the primary author on the new edition would be Joseph K. Jose and the secondary author Joseph Annamkutty Jose.

Oh, ok. Thanks for this information. Never knew this policy before. Since the author has published in Malayalam and English languages, do we have to add both profiles in the Malayalam book? or just the Malayalam profile?

Also, can you please link Joseph K. Jose from the About me section of Joseph Annamkutty Jose?

Yes, the English profile as primary and the Malayam profile as secondary.
