I loved this book! I have read this book 2 times now and I even love the movie. Reading about the main character Opal was so fun as she grew to learn to make friends and create a bond with an unexpected friend. Winn-Dixie helped her make friends from all ages. I think that was one of my favorite things about it, she was not afraid to talk to anyone and meet new people. She made friends with people much younger and much older than her. Opal struggled a lot being raised by her father because of her mom leaving them. Opal had a hard time with aging and growing up as a female without an older role model. I liked how she connected herself with everyone she met and put full effort into her relationships. This book made me laugh and cry because it was so cute! Everyone deserves to have great pets in their life like Winn-Dixie that make every day an adventure. The dog reminded me of my own dog growing up that I got when I was very young and was always by my side. He was a big dog like Winn-Dixie and the part where she was trying to give him a bath and he was not cooperating reminded me so much of my relationship with my dog. He was so much bigger and stronger than me when I was little it made it hard to bathe him by myself. The two of them went every where together and he protected her just like most dogs do. This is one book I read so fast that I would see myself reading more and more again.
