Who is going to join me in May's Group Buddy read? If you are interested and don't have a copy, I have a Kindle copy that is loanable.
I have 100 pages to finish; but, will probably finish when the new second book comes out. I don't usually start a series until the series is nearly finished; but, didn't know until this month that there is a second book. My fist time reading this author and I did like her writing style; and story line so far.
It is now mid-month and discussion is open. Please feel free to post a question or make a comment.Who was your favorite of the three sisters and why?
I finally just started this book after wrapping up another one for the month. I’m curious to see how this story unfolds!
I finished a couple of weeks ago. I like Joelle, but I really think I liked Selah the best. She was very strong, unafraid of anything, and a leader of her family that had her heart and head set on getting her family home back, no matter what. This was probably not very common at that time for a woman to possess, especially someone so young.
I liked Selah the best as well. She was s strong and determined, and I agree that she was a woman ahead of her time.

Five years after the final shot was fired in the War Between the States, Selah Daughtry can barely manage to keep herself, her two younger sisters, and their spinster cousin fed and clothed. With their family's Mississippi plantation swamped by debt and the Big House falling down around them, the only option seems to be giving up their ancestral land.
Pinkerton agent and former Union cavalryman Levi Riggins is investigating a series of robberies and sabotage linked to the impoverished Daughtry plantation. Posing as a hotel management agent for the railroad, he tells Selah he'll help her save her home, but only if it is converted into a hotel. With Selah otherwise engaged with renovations, Levi moves onto the property to "supervise" while he actually attends to his real assignment right under her nose.
Selah isn't sure she entirely trusts the handsome Yankee, but she'd do almost anything to save her home. What she never expected to encounter was his assault on her heart.
