Lockdown discussion

After reading around 80 pages, I feel the theme of this book is to stay hopeful. Alex is going through alot so far but he also seems to have faith in what could possibly be ahead. He tries to ignore alot of the bad things that are happening and always takes good opportunities. He is also nice to his bunk mate along with some of the other prisoners. This makes me believe that Alex is hoping that his kindness with come back someday and potentially help him escape from the prison. He also seems to be a good kid stuck in a life of hell. This is why I believe Alex is staying hopeful and that later on in the book being hopeful will pay off.
