J Q (johnniquest) | 1226 comments Welcome to our week long read-a-thon. That's right, at Hooked on Books we've decided that there aren't enough hours in a day, or days in a week, so our week long read-a-thons run for 8 days! Each participant reads from 12:01am on Saturday to 11:59pm on the following Saturday in their local time zone.

To sign up simply start yourself a post to track what you've read during the read-a-thon. Edit your post throughout the read-a-thon to let everyone know which books you've read & your total number of pages.

I had read Sense and Sensibility and Pride and Prejudice a few years ago (Sense is my favorite), but when I tried Emma, I just couldn't get passed the first couple of chapters, and that kept me from reading more of Austen. Finally, I decided to read Persuasion, and realized I had missed out on a really good read. Then I went right on reading the rest of Austen's works, even Emma and really glad I did.

Jess Foley | 38 comments Done! This may be horrible to admit but Persuasion is so perfect a novel that I am almost glad I've been terribly ill with this nasty respiratory infection for the last one or two weeks.
Sickness may have confined me to my bed, but Austen's wit persuaded me not to mind so much.
