Questions/Problems in Completed Tasks
Oma1229 - post 7The edition of Holy Night: An Aloha Reef Christmas Novella you've linked to is an ebook with 72 pages, which would not work for a 10-point task. There is a hardback listed on GRs, but no page numbers to go with that edition. The proper page count must be listed on GRs in order for you to use the hardback for verification. You may be able to get a GRs librarian to fix this for you. When the issue is resolved, please repost this task to get credit for these points.
Becky P - post 8Task 5.6 requires you to state where you got the book. Please repost this task, following the Requirements for Reposts (at the bottom), including the required information.
Becky P - post 22Sorry, Becky, but all reposts must include a link(s) to the book(s) read, just like original posts. The easiest way to do this is to go to your first post, click edit, then copy the info re this task. That preserves the formatting. Choose Cancel Edit then paste what you've copied into a new post, and add the required info that was missing.
ETA -- Never mind. I just got to post 25... ;-)
Oma1229 - post 39Sorry, Wanda, I didn't notice the first time around that the only print version of Holy Night: An Aloha Reef Christmas Novella is a large print hardback. Large print edition page numbers do not count because they (obviously) have more pages than a standard print edition. Because the only other editions are ebooks and we cannot rely on Goodreads page number notation for ebooks without supporting information, you're going to need to get the number of pages verified for 100+ pages in order to use this book.
Please post it in the eBook Verification thread and DLMRose will take a look at it when she gets home.

Annapoorni - post 71To claim points and ask questions, all books must be linked for easy verification. This post will show you how: Add book/author & add cover.
Please repost (make a new post in the completed task thread) the task with a link to the book. Please DO NOT edit or remove post 71. Thanks!
Leah - posts 89 & 90We already had a Leah in the archives, so I've assigned you the Readerbaord name LEAH RI. If you'd like a different name, please let me know.
To get points for these two tasks, you will need to repost them (make new posts in the completed task thread) listing your Readerboard name (Leah RI) at the top of the posts. Please DO NOT edit or remove posts 89 & 90.
Also, DLMRose is taking care of the Goodreads Authors this season. She's currently on vacation. But you are responsible for determining if an author is a Goodreads author (GRA) and only requesting tickets for those who are. We go through thousands of posts every season, we can't check all your authors.
There are a couple of ways to tell if an author is a GRA. One way is to look at your list of books in "My Books." GRA have an asterisks (*) beside their names. Another way is to go to the book's main page. If an author is a GRA, it will say (Goodreads Author) beside their name (it's greyed out). Another way is to go to the author's page. If they are a GRA, it will say Goodreads Author in the upper right-hand corner of their bio box. If they are not, it will just say Author profile in grey.
Irene - post 76Please check your totals. You should have 10 total points instead of 5. No need to do anything other than correct your records. This is just a heads up to help keep our number in sync.
Meghan B - post 107Sorry, Meghan, Holes will not work for task 10.1 because it doesn't not meet the requirements for books with the genre "childrens" on the main page. The book level (BL) must be 5.0 or higher and the BL for Holes is 4.6. You may use the book for a 5-point task if you wish.
WolfSchwallie - post 104Please check your totals. You've posted tasks 5.1 and 5.3 for a total of 10 points. No need to do anything other than correct your records. This is just an attempt to keep our numbers in sync.
Tara Jo - post 121Games of the Heart appears to exist only as an ebook. For ebooks without a print edition, the rules state:
8. Using ebooks
If no print edition of a book exists on Goodreads, you MUST get the book pre-approved by a moderator in the topic "eBook verification-no print edition" in General Help.
ebooks without print editions cannot be used for tasks requiring a specific number of pages. ebooks can be used for specific page number tasks as long as there is a print equivalent that can be used to determine page numbers- see #7 above. ebooks without print equivalents can be used for tasks without specific page requirements, since it is usually possible to "guesstimate" from the word count that a book is at least 100 pages long.
If you claim a book in Completed Tasks that exists ONLY in ebook format, you MUST provide a reference to the ebook verification document when you post ex."Approved @ line #" or provide the post number in the ebook verification thread where it was approved ex. "ebook Approved post #"
After you have gone through the ebook verification process, please repost this task (by making a new post in the completed task thread) with the required information.

It appears that I was not clear about my Goodreads author ticket and Big Book ticket claim. I will post again. Thank you.

Hi Leah, you'll want to put your completed task posts in the Completed Task thread here!
HiI have a query. Each task asks us to read 2 books. For example 30.2 requires 2 books to be read. I have completed 2 books. So will my points be 30 and task completed 1 or Points 60 and task completed 2? Can you please help me with this? Thanks
Kritika wrote: "HiI have a query. Each task asks us to read 2 books. For example 30.2 requires 2 books to be read. I have completed 2 books. So will my points be 30 and task completed 1 or Points 60 and task com..."
In that example, your points will be 30 and tasks completed 1.
But not all of the tasks require 2 books.
Jennifer wrote: "It appears that I was not clear about my Goodreads author ticket and Big Book ticket claim. I will post again. Thank you."No, your indications of GRA and BB tickets are fine. On the Readerboard you will see a 10 point total. You got 5 points for 5.1 and 5 points for 5.3.
When DLMRose gets back from vacation, she'll add up your GRA tickets and your BB tickets. You don't get extra points for these tickets. Instead, we keep a running tally of how many GRA you've read and how many BB tickets you've earned and then, at the end of the challenge, your name goes in a drawing for the chance to design a task for the next challenge. This post can tell you more: Rewards of the Challenge
Fiona (Titch) - post 144Task 10.4 requires that the book be identified as part of a series on Goodreads (series title, #). HOUSE OF STONE is not identified correctly as such.
Hi, this is regarding Post #29--I've been checking the readerboard and my name's not up there yet with that 10 point task (post 29) but I can't find any problems referring to it here.
Charlotte wrote: "Hi, this is regarding Post #29--I've been checking the readerboard and my name's not up there yet with that 10 point task (post 29) but I can't find any problems referring to it here."Sorry about that, Charlotte. Found and fixed. Thanks for the heads up!
Kritika - post 158Sorry, Kritika, but The Hen Who Dreamed She Could Fly has the genre "childrens" on its main page and does not appear to be on AR Bookfinder or AR Bookfinder UK. Books with children's on the main page must meet certain criteria to be used for SRC tasks. Please see the Rules of the Challenge: Effective Fall 2014 for more information. You may use children's books not found on these sites for task 5.10.
Fiona (Titch) - post 174Sorry, Fiona, but when we say a book must be identified as part of a series on Goodreads, we mean something very specific. What it means is that the book must be identified with a series title and a number in the series. Compare HOUSE OF STONE with something like Catching Fire. If you go to the main page of Catching Fire, you'll see it's identified as (The Hunger Games #2). If you click on (The Hunger Games #2), you'll go to a page that shows the entire Hunger Games series. HOUSE OF STONE doesn't fit any of this criteria, so it will not work for task 10.4.

I understand and I have changed where I can post the book now. I have others that can go there anyway :)
I am missing credit for a completed task....see original posting #21 in completed tasks. I had credit showing a few days ago, but it's now gone. Thanks.
Emily - post 209We have many Emilys in the challenge. Please repost (make a NEW post in the completed task thread) this task with your Readerboard name at the TOP of your post. Please DO NOT edit or remove post 209. Thanks!
Fiona (Titch) - post 235Still having problems with House of Stone - different problem, though. ;-) The book appears to exist in ebook format only. Please see Rule #8 under Book Formats and Page Numbers Explained for the procedure when using ebooks without print editions and repost with the required information.

I reposted, hopefully correctly. Post #297 for both books. Thank you.
PerleTwo - post 259The Graveyard Book has the genre "childrens" on its main page. Please see #7 in the Posting Requirements effective Fall 2014 for information about what you need to post when you claim these books for points and repost this task (make a NEW post in the completed task thread). Done, thanks for letting me know. Still getting used to how this works! please let me know if there's still a problem with this one.
Suzanne wrote: "Done, thanks for letting me know. Still getting used to how this works!"No worries. It is a lot to digest in the beginning, but you'll get used to it.... ;-)
Oma1229 - post 266The Plantagenet Prelude has the genre children's on the main page. You need to include the AR data as explained in # 4 under the Book Formats and Page Numbers Explained in the Rules of the Challenge: Effective Fall 2014 thread.
Lindsey IL - post 270Task 15.10 - Thank You Notes appears to be mainly pictures accompanied by a sentence or two that makes up the "thank you note." Books made up primarily of images without a substantial written component may not be used for points in the SRC.
Rachieg - post 275It's fine to include more than one newly completed task in a post. If you do include more than one task, the tasks must be listed in numerical order, lowest to highest. See the Posting Requirements effective Fall 2014 for more information and repost this task (make a NEW post in the completed task thread). Please DO NOT edit or delete post 275.
Gemma - post 277For some reason, 23 people have shelved Snuff as Childrens > Picture Books and it's showing up on the book's main page. Please see the Rules of the Challenge: Effective Fall 2014 for information on how to post books with "childrens" on the main page.
Cynthia - post 281There are 3 things we need to check on books that have children's listed as a genre on the main page -- interest level (IL); reading level (BL); and complexity (AR points). We need you to post all three [unless the book's IL is MG+ (upper middle school) or UG(upper grades) - then we just need to know that.] Please see the Rules of the Challenge: Effective Fall 2014 for examples on how to post books with "childrens" on the main page.
Saphfyre42 - post 287It's fine to include more than one newly completed task in a post. If you do include more than one task, the tasks must be listed in numerical order, lowest to highest. See the Posting Requirements effective Fall 2014 for more information and repost this task (make a NEW post in the completed task thread). Please DO NOT edit or delete post 287.
Susan A - post 295Blue-Eyed Soul is showing the genre children's on it's main page. Please see the Rules of the Challenge: Effective Fall 2014 for examples on how to post books with "childrens" on the main page.

I would really like to appeal this ruling. The author of this book was a prolific writer of historical fiction, romance and gothic under three different pseudonyms-Jean Plaidy, Victoria Holt and Phillipa Carr. Her name was Eleanor Hibbert. 116 users rated it correctly as historical fiction and only two rated it as children's and I cannot begin to understand why they would do that. I did not find it on the AR page as I did not expect it as it is an adult novel. I can guarantee that if you find any of her books written as Jean Plaidy in a library they will not be found in the children's section. I would ask that you confer with the other moderators about this decision. Thank you

As to further information regarding this book, it is the first in a series of 13 book and none of them have children's listed as a genre on the main page. I do understand the ruling and perhaps even the need for it but this is really an error in assigning genres. These books are not children's books.

unfortunately, its not the first time this has happened - i've run into erotic romances with childrens shelving because it features kids in some way or another - unfortunately, as of right now, the mods haven't come up with a way to determine books in cases like this

If you have questions about your points on the Readerboard:
1. Make sure that the Readerboard has been updated through the post that you are concerned about.
2. Please check your math.
3. Check to see if one of your posts is listed in this thread with a question. If so, please make a NEW POST in the Completed tasks thread to clear up the question. DO NOT go back and edit the original post. I will not go backwards in the completed task thread to pick up points.
