Kieran Sampson | 5 comments Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone knew of any books about General Corbulo - a Roman general who was involved in the Roman–Parthian War of 58–63?

I'm hoping for a series that takes him from his child hood, through his time on the Roman/German frontier and onto the Roman/Parthian war.

Thanks in advance.

Jane? Are you out there? Have you read any fiction on this General?

Reeda Booke (book-wizard) | 18 comments Not sure it starts from his childhood, but I think Nick Brown's "Agent of Rome #1, has the general in it, and so does Avenger of Rome by Douglas Jackson.
Simon Scarrow also has him in his Eagles of the Empire series.

Kieran Sampson | 5 comments Thanks Reeda - I have read Nick Brown's "Agent of Rome", and whilst it was a good book, I thought it was about a Cassius Corbulo rather than Gnaeus Domitius Corbulo, and was mostly fictional.

I've also read the latest Simon Scarrow where Corbulo is mentioned, which is what made me do a little research on him. I'll have a look at your other suggestion by Douglas Jackson.

Many thanks for the prompt response, it's very much appreciated.

Yup, I'm here. Not really except a few which people mention in previous messages. BTW, In the Agent of Rome series, the hero, Cassius Corbulo, has the same cognomen but he says in one of the books the general may be a distant relative. In the Jackson series, the general is mentioned but his daughter, Domitia Longina Corbulo, is the heroine for much of the series and has brief appearances after she marries Emperor Domitian; in history, she DID marry the guy. I haven't read much Scarrow so I can't comment on him. The question intrigues me so I'll keep my eye out.
