Final thoughts of Gone Girl

message 2: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Marie (sunshineyheidi) I think that this book started so slow, but my lord - once you hit that pivotal moment in the book where you know she is still alive I COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN!!!

Lori (lthomas74) OK I really liked the first 1/3 and then I loved the twist but I absolutely hated the end. I am sitting here trying to think what would have made me like the end, but I got nothing. I am glad I read it but I really am upset by the end.

I don't think there is a way to improve the ending, the are both terrible people and deserve each other

Lori (lthomas74) Maybe the sequel will be about the little psycho they raise.

Is there even a comparison on "evil" scale between the two of them? Why are you saying both?
Nick maybe failed to fulfill the "perfect husband" role but I see him far from making such a malefic scenario to hurt her.
I really liked this book, made me read Dark Places, not as good as this one though. I've seen both of them have been made into movies, coming up this fall (in EU)--> totally looking forward to it.
I loove plot twists and this one had a darn good one.
From that point on, it was a page-turner :)

aPriL does feral sometimes (cheshirescratch) What twisted dark horrible fun! Although I had to suspend some disbelief here and there, I think it is worth it. Outstanding thriller yet I can tell it would be fun to re-read again in a few years.

Loved it even though there almost was nothing to like about these two characters.

Joanne Zienty | 2 comments This book was definitely gripping -- a page-turner from beginning to end, although I found the ending maddening. To me, Nick was definitely the "lesser of two evils," in fact, he was very easily manipulated. (Although perhaps I am the one being manipulated here.) Amy was pure sociopath. But I enjoy books that challenge my expectations and don't end as neatly wrapped packages. Dark, twisted fun indeed!

Jessica (frellathon) It's odd I usually have thoughts going oh maybe its that person or this is what's happening but usually I'm wrong on who and what I suspect. This one I had the twist figured out. After the twist was revealed I was a bit disappointed that it turned out to be what I had suspected and backed off a little but then I really got into it again and I think the ending was actually quite fitting for them. Poor kid will probably grow up to be a serial killer but that's another story.

Lesley I finished this last night. I was expecting another twist towards the end, so was somewhat disappointed with that. I agree the ending was fitting for these two. I will be interested to see the movie when it is released.

Me too :)
Two (out of three) of Flynn's books have been made into movies, coming this fall
I am totally looking forward to it ^^

LyndiLea Hardman (lyndileahardman) | 31 comments Loved this book! Normally I have guessed the killer and figured out the twist long before it happens. Not this book! Part 2 took me by complete surprise! I loved the ending. I had to go back and re-read it out loud to my husband because I just couldn't get enough! I can't wait until the movie comes out in October. I hope they do the book justice.

I too expected another twist. It made me angry that Nick let her back into the home, but then again he's a idiot. These are two sick people! I'd like to see the movie now just to see how it compares to the book.

Liz Hunt | 104 comments Now I have to go read the book. It sounds completely twisted. People are even talking about it on the bus
