Review : The Journey by Manajit Ghoshal is a tale sprawled across three generations of a family in three continents, knitted by destiny.

The tale marks it's beginning in the jungles of Northeast India, during the period of World War II. Kanhai,a soldier who fights for the British, is badly injured and is taken to the hospital. Elisa, a British Nurse cares for him and eventually they fall in love. But, fate has another story to offer and they both end up with different lives.

Elisa, returns to a chaotic England along with her handicapped father amidst the Irish counter rebellion with the destruction of the WWII still lingering.

The story proceeds with a brilliant narrative that keeps your curiosity alive with every chapter. Kanhai, marries a Muslim woman, with a little deterrence from his family and continues with his life in India.

The changing environment of India, decade after decade and how it impacted the life of the population is quite vividly depicted.

Also, subsequently the story of Elisa's life and her son's also forwards with an in depth idea about the situation of turmoil in Ireland, where they settled.

The climax finally tied all the loose ends and it was something that I was looking forward to. Definitely didn't let me down.

"THE JOURNEY" sings of hope in despair, of family ties that always stand above anything else.
