To everyone who voted for this... thank you. This is the kind of book i would keep on my TBR and never pick up. Not really my thing.
I'm on chapter 5 right now and im loving it. Very pleasently surprised.
Anyone else started this yet?
Same here, Lauren!I have read and loved the first book in this ‘series’ but I probably would have never picked up the sequel.
I most likely won’t start reading until the end of the month but I‘m glad you’re enjoying the book so far! I hope I do, too! :)
Currently on chapter 11. I'm really enjoying it. I never read the first one so I didn't really know what to expect. Khai and Esme are so cute. Can't say that I've seen much chemistry with them yet but separately they are really interesting and endearing. Hopefully we will get more sparks as the story goes on. I'm feeling a slow burn with this one so some of you will be in for a treat if that's your thing? Anyone else reading yet?
No, sadly I still haven’t started because I lent my physical copy of the book to a friend and I don’t want to read this as ebook...but anyways, I’m glad that you like it so far and also - slow burn??? yes please !!!
Glad to see you're enjoying the book so far! I’m probably going to skip this one because I read the first book in the series and felt like it wasn’t for me..But happy reading to all of you and I’ll be joining you for the next one :)

Your so sweet :D
Just finished chapter 15 which is about half way through. Thought I'd add some of my thoughts so far. I really love the main characters but as I said before I just couldn't see much chemistry with them. There's glimmers here and there but I can't help but think if they just sat down and had a real conversation with eachother then the chemistry would double. Maybe I'm just too impatient for slow burns :D
Khai reminds me of a puppy, when you accidentally step on its tail and you say sorry but the puppy doesn't understand and the puppy just looks all guilty at you like it's thinking "I don't know what it did but that must of definitely been my fault, I deserved that". In other words, this guy breaks my heart. He just can't help but accept things are his fault because of the way he is.
Damn, that sounds like fun hahah at least for me since slow burns are my favorite :) I’ll probably start reading tomorrow and I’m really excited!! (Also, Khai sounds like such a cutie!!!)
I'm starting this one Monday. I typically don't like slow burns so im hoping its not tooo slow... awww the puppy analogy makes me think im gonna adore Khai ❤
I love the idea of the story being predictable but still lovable.😁
Hey everyone! :) I’m on chapter 10 at the moment and I’m not sure how I feel. It’s obviously a very cute and fun story but I have to admit I’m still waiting for that spark between the two characters! But I’ll obviously continue and hopefully their relationship will grow on me more :)
So I finished it today and I really liked it! I saw the spark later on and I thought the two characters fit together really well! I’m really excited for our discussion! :)
Finished it today! In the end i gave it 3 stars. It was a sweet read and im glad it was our first group book. I'm also excited to discuss Luisa :)
So here are a few of my opinions: 1. The romance was great but there were definitely a few miscommunications between the characters that upset me a little (aka him not telling her that he loves her but asking her to marry him anyway...yikes)
2. Also, their first time together was soooo weird, please tell me I’m not the only one who cringed a little at that part :D
But overall I really enjoyed the rest of it and gave it four stars! What about you guys? :)
Well, yes it was cute but I couldn’t help feeling a little awkward haha :) and yeah, for me it didn’t feel slow paced at all but I guess that is different for everyone depending on what you like in romances
Hi everyone. I'm here to discuss :)Sooo...The Bride Test. First I want to say this was a great first book for the group. Light and sweet and something we can all enjoy. Thank you everyone who voted for it.
I'm glad I read it. In the end though I only gave it 3 stars. Don't get me wrong, I liked it. I'm not really a sweet/cute contemporary reader. For me I feel like the stories tend to run a little dull so I rely heavily on the characters to be knock out to keep me interested. Although Khai and Esme are interesting characters, they never really took off for me with their relationship. Like I mentioned before, I saw sparks here and there but for me I just never saw them blossom together. I also agree it was awkward at times.
Did anyone else have an issue with Quan marrying Esme to get Khai to admit his feelings? I couldn't help but think it was highly manipulative. This is a guy with serious emotional issues who could of benefited with some professional help. Imagine if he hadn't of stopped the wedding. He would of spent his whole life resenting his brother for that. He was seriously depressed at moments and the poor guy couldn't figure out what was going on in his own head. I just couldn't help but feel like his family manipulated him instead of getting him some decent help.
Made for a dramatic ending I suppose :D
Uuuhhh, yeah, that made me so uncomfortable... like I get that his brother was only trying to help but I feel like that was definitely the wrong way to do so!
It could of gone really badly. Good thing it's only fiction and everything was bound to go right in the end haha.
I just finished and I was shocked at his brother marrying Esme, just to make Khai jealous too.. umm.. who does that. I was like this guy is really going to possibly sacrifice and scar his brother and their relationship just to make a point. ......and no one else in his family not even Khai's mother saw a problem with that. Wait.. and a huge wedding with a 10,000 dollar Vera Wang dress just ends and everyone goes about their business lol
I liked it but felt it dragged in certain spots..... all those pages and no fireworks barely candle flames....
As their connection grew i started to feel more for the book. What actually turned this from a 3 star read to a 3.5 star for me was the author's note at the end. She set out to write a different story but her mom's real life story made her change it. Knowing the story behind the story just made it more special to me.
Totally feel you! I liked the relationship but that ending was way too rushed and the wedding situation was definitely unrealistic :D I actually skipped the author’s note but now that you mention it maybe I should go back and read it after all, it sounds really sweet :)
Yeah, the ending was super rushed. The whole birth father side plot was over in half a page. Blink and we would of missed it haha. I thought Khai's mum said she would send Esme back if she didn't marry him. All of a sudden she's totally okay with Esme marrying Quan instead?...okay then...
