She pretty much dug in and just was sort of always there. Visiting him in hospital, sending him her books. She quietly wormed her way under his skin but didn’t push anything or play games.
She was a real, caring woman who knows who she is and is not playing games. She became a friend first. I think Clay saw a women who didn't play the BS games his ex did and lived her life her way. Strength of character is amazingly sexy.
In the last book, Zoe related to him in a way no one else did. She wasn’t put off by his gruffness and saw right through him. Clay noticed and he liked her quirkiness as it felt real and authentic. At least that was my takeaway. Her visit to him at the hospital was another unique interaction. By the time he got to New Orleans, he knew he was defenseless.
