Please be aware there could be spoilers!

Carol Brill (goodreadscomuser_carolbrill) I'm so glad the group picked this book since I never read it as a child. Looking forward to reading and discussing with all of you. Carol

A few people voted for this one Carol so hopefully they will all join in on reading it with you :-)

Carol Brill (goodreadscomuser_carolbrill) It took me a few tries to get through the first chapter--my first attempts the characters felt just too weird. I'm glad I stuck with it. A few chapters in, I started to care about the quirky characters and see their strengths and likable qualities. The story blends sci-fi, fantasy, good vs. evil, with some (maybe a little heavy handed at times) lessons about social responsibility and the value of individuality mixed in.
Did parts of the story/themes remind anyone else of "The Wizard of Oz"

I was going through my books last night and found that I actually have this one on my kindle. I have no idea where it came from or how i got it which is really strange.
I really need to try and read it now!

Carol Brill (goodreadscomuser_carolbrill) Michelle, would like to hear your thoughts if you decide to read.

I just finished reading this book and I feel like I would have appreciated it much more had I read it 20 years or so ago.
In my opinion it seemed to be a bit all over the place and I just didn't feel it flowed at all.
Meg just annoyed me with all her whinging and I couldn't get my head around the way Charles Wallace spoke like an adult when he was supposed to be a 4 or 5 year old. That just kept weirding me out a little.
As I said I probably would have found it much more fascinating and related to the characters more if I'd read it when I was young but at least I know what it's all about now.
