1. Paper. Movie!?2. absolutely. I've signed up to receive Amazon alerts from this author.
3. Hmmm, that's tough. I didn't particularly car for Farouk's mom or the voodoo lady.
4. “You never miss the water ’til the well runs dry,” she said. Plenty people t’ink they’ll be fine until the person they need does be gone.“
5.Marcia's realization that she's a servant was moving. But prior to that, I couldn't believe she made the decision to actually leave her kids./When Farouk realizes what his daughter is doing./ When Marcia meets the guy that helps her in NY./ There was a lot to this book so I could go on and on!
6. I don't recall feeling strongly about it either way.
7. Yes

Fixed it! Thanks
1. Kindle Edition2. Probably not. I did not care for her writing style.
3. Favorite: Jackie
Least: Farouk's mother and Marcia's uncle
4. Did not have one.
5. Favorite: When Marcia let her uncle know he no
longer controlled her.
6. Least: When Marcia put so much responsibility on
Jackie.
When Farouk's mother spit in Marcia's face.
7. Not really unless they specifically told me they were looking about a book characters from Trinidad.
8. I did not write one, however the story did reinforce my opinion that seemingly homeless people often have quite a story. I did not love this story, but am glad I read it.
1. e-book
2. yes.
3. Least: The Voodoo Lady, Tanty. Favorite: Jackie Karam
4. "Unkept promises, like secets, can't make it to the grave without effort."
"You've broken their hearts over and over. And their mudda's, too. If you cared about them, you'd remember that the sins of the parents does fall unto the child. And God don't sleep."
5. When the truth finally came about about Marcia and her family secrets.
6. Thinking back on it....yes.
7. Yes.

1. Paper2. Yes, I am looking forward to her next book
3. Favorite Character - Marcia
Least Favorite - Marlock and Uncle Linton
4. I don't know if this is a favorite quote b/c of its implications, but it makes me pause...and fills me with a little dread and confusion....
"listening for the call of need; a call that a woman, to be a woman, must grow accustomed to listening for." - Til the Well Runs Dry (p 326)
5. Favorite section - the build up of their romance, it was so hopeful until he gave her the tea and then it was doomed (why Farouk why) - I liked the pacing of that section, especially juxtaposed to the jump in time once the relationship failed (...8 years after he left). Another favorite was the house party in NY (one of the few scenes in the book that had an aura of hope)
Least Favorite - when Yvonne died/when Jacqueline saw her father right before exams/when Patsy believed her mother used Obeah (seemed like a turning point for her)
6. No - I fully expect her next novel to be a sequel...
7. Yes, and it's a book you can read over and over again.
8. N/A
1. I borrowed a hardcover from the library2. I will definitely keep my eye out for more of her work. I really enjoyed the storytelling of Lauren Francis-Sharma
3. My favorite characters were Jackie and Marcia. They were both strong women. Many would have given up on life after what they experienced. My least favorite characters were the men in this book. Most of them were evil, weak, or a combination of the two.
4. Favorite quote(s)? I was struck by the same quote as Heidi above "listening for the call of need; a call that a woman, to be a woman, must grow accustomed to listening for. Isn't that the truth! I also liked a lot of the little island sayings in the book like Every day is a fishing day but not every day is catching day and I like the way she told Farouk off when he was being a stalker "Don't pretend like you know me 'cause you shook some neighborhood tree and got a li'l rotten fruit"
5. I loved the part of the book when Farouk was actually being a father to his children. When he they had the little party for him, when he took them back to Blanchusuesse, when he played cricket with them all day. My least favorite part was the day Yvonne died. It was so heartbreaking.
6. In a way, the ending was perfect. Life does not give you tidy little packages. Some things were resolved and others weren't. I was still holding out hope for Marcia and Farouk though and part of me did not want them to go to the US.
7. I would definitely recommend this book to others.
8. Later :0)
1. This was an ebook read for me.2. Not sure - would depend on the subject of the book.
3. My fav character = Jackie
My least fav character was Uncle Linton and Farouk
4. I also liked some of the sayings such as: "You wouldn't need him to be with his chil'ren if you didn't keep havin' his chil'ren.", "Don't wait until the donkey's back breaks to take off the load.", "Dog don't make cat."
5. n/a
6. The ending went well with this storyline and the hard lessons all the characters have to learn in this book.
7. Probably not
8. Later
