The King's Avatar

In the multiplayer online game Glory, Ye Xiu, is well known as the Textbook level expert and a top-tier player. Due to a series of circumstances, he was forcefully expelled out of his professional team. After leaving the pro gaming scene, he resides at an Internet Café employed as one of the managers. When Glory launches the tenth server, he throws himself into the game once more, equipped with ten years of gaming experience, memories of the past and an incomplete self-made weapon. His journey back to the top begins.

After plotting and scheming, who took away my glory? Under the influence of the storm, my hopes will never be shattered. In its magnificence, the path will not be lost, for I, will return!

So I'm probably ridiculously bias here as I've also read too many chapters of the novel that it's based on, but it's definitely a favorite, especially if you're into gaming.

The main character is a gamer whose been removed from his original team and had his character taken from him despite playing for over 10 years. For me personally, I love him. He's major OP in the game, but somewhat trash in real life with a dry, sarcastic sense of humor that's a huge appeal when reading. The supporting characters are all also rather... interesting, with all their own flaws and problems.

What even more incredible is the game itself. While it plays as a regular MMORGP (dungeon and quest running), the individual aspects to the game come to life through the building of personal weaponry and the rivalries of the professional guilds in the game despite it being a new server.

While the manhua doesn't explore as in depth as the novel, it's a rather unique read, and the anime (or rather animation in this case) has great potential as well. As a plus, there's also a new drama in July of 2019 (with my favorite Chinese actor Yang Yang as the main lead- *squealing and snacks prepared for the premier*).

If you have any enjoyment of gaming, or even if you don't I would check it out. As a whole, it's rather amusing and pretty fun.

Freaking love this manwha, so much, I've been reading the light novel on the side when I find time during my gaming breaks.

This isn't really a story about playing in a eSport environment. The story revolves around the main character Yy Xiu, a Glory god, until his dismissal from the team due to suspicious reasons. He finds a small job at an internet cafe and creates a new account grinding his way up again to the "top" (quite easily demonstrating why he is called God). You learn that he never revealed his identity to the public, only his 'name". His new found friends and foes see his skills are out of this world. Even though he is known for being a cold harder bastard that looks down on people, Ye Xiu is very humble and helps other in Glory regardless of their affiliation. He sees himself as a mentor no matter what.

Its a great read, with no in between the line side story. It is basic to its core. I especially love how his smoking habits reflect his stress, coping mechanism, and a little more.

Do I recommend it:
