2026 Reading Challenge discussion

Thank you for putting up all of these threads, Kristin! I can't wait to start reading and discussing all of these great books.

I am just going to finish the book I am currently reading and then will start this one. I should be starting it next week. I have read one other book by this author and enjoyed it, so hoping I will enjoy this one too.

Hey there, Ashley! I have read Sharp Objects by Gillian before and really liked it so I too am hoping to enjoy this one. I'll start it in a week or 2. Thanks for signing up to be my reading buddy :)

Sharp Objects was the one I read to. It was actually really good time. I went to the book store because there were sales and bought Dark Places and then saw your comment for a buddy read when I got home. Timing was perfect :)

Sharp Objects was made into a limited series starring Amy Adams. I need to watch it someday lol

I did watch it. I found that it follows the book pretty close. Some parts though did seem a little drawn out, and the book wasn't really that long, but it was still enjoyable. I liked the book better, and find I usually do. It is worth checking out.

I plan to start reading this today or tomorrow. I'm excited!

I started this book and so far I am on page 24. It has been a little more of the stepup and leading up to what you know is going to happen. It does jump between the present and the past, but it easy to follow. (view spoiler)[ There are warning signs concerning the brother already up to this point. The way he is acting and changing his appearance, you can see red flags. This might also be because you know what is coming. (hide spoiler)]

I just finished. I like this better than Sharp Objects. The story was interesting and it was easy to follow even though it was told from multiple perspectives and different times. I thought Libby was a little crazy at times going to see certain people. (view spoiler)[ I couldn't stand Runner and the fact that is entire family only existed to give him money and didn't do anything for them. He made it seem like he knew what happened that night, and I don't think he had any idea. It never actually involved him. The Kill Club was a little creepy and it seems weird that people would look into murders like that for a hobby. (hide spoiler)]
