I read this in 2015. The protagonist is a young girl named grace that is separated from her ill mother and is sent to live in a farm (maybe?) with her grandfather (?). She goes to a new school and all I remember is she got kicked in the shin on the first day (I think). After a while she runs away back to the city (London?) after fleeing from her class during a school trip and I remember her going through a train station of some sort before arriving in a hospital where her mother is (maybe has cancer?).
