In June we will be reading...

Thou shalt kill.

A world with no hunger, no disease, no war, no misery. Humanity has conquered all those things, and has even conquered death. Now scythes are the only ones who can end life—and they are commanded to do so, in order to keep the size of the population under control.

I read this one a couple of years ago, so I won't be joining in but I look forward to seeing what you all think of it (at some point I actually need to pick up the sequel)!

This is one of my favorite all time reads! I can't wait to hear what you all think about it!! Also, I need the finale of this series to come out like yesterday!!

I’m hoping to read it this month but I don’t know how much I will manage to read this month so we will see.

I started it yesterday and it's such an enjoying read! I have already read 200 pages in one day, oops, I should have used that time to study. I especially like the diary entries in the book and how they give a different view on society.

(view spoiler)[I was shocked when we learned that scythe Faraday took his own life in order to save these kids. I was also wondering if that is actually what happened, but I hope it was and that we just explore this world instead of going on a murder mystery as well. Even though that would be very interesting as well. (hide spoiler)]

I totally forgot to update you on my final thoughts! I finished the book a few days later and I absolutely loved it. The utopia/dystopia is so different from what I have read before and there are so many aspects of life addressed in this book without it being the main focus, which I really enjoyed.
I immediately ordered book two, so I will probably be reading that in July. I was quite surprised to love it this much since I normally prefer books with some purple prose instead of his writing style.


(view spoiler)[I really like the name Citra has chosen for herself with her explanation for it. At first, I was quite confused, but her explanation made so much sense. Somehow I also hadn't expected Faraday to be alive, I just never questioned the fact that he would commit suicide to help Rowan and Citra because suicide got such a different meaning to it if one is immortal. I am curious about what book two is going to be about. I hope we get to see more of Rowan and more about Thunderhead itself. (hide spoiler)]

YES!! To everything you said! I should have book 2 in my hands in 6 or so weeks. Cannot wait!

Im super curious how Rowan will work at staying alive now and continue to learn. As well as exactly what kind of person he became after murdering those other scythes (well-deserved and the right choice or not it was still unlawful murder). (hide spoiler)]

Renee, when I get my copy of book 2 would you want to buddy read it?

I loved every minute of this book! It was so different from what I usually read. I also was surprised because I tend to lean towards female authors. (not sure why that is) But I enjoyed this one immensely!
