I read this a few years ago and really enjoyed the story with its unusual slant on WWII and general quirkiness.
I read it a while ago and loved Miss Ranskill. I vividly remember the Royal Navy chaps not wanting to upset her by telling her there was a War on so did not. Go figure! She'd just survived on an island for heaven's sake but no the poor little woman couldn't cope with such knowledge. So when back at home she couldn't buy things because she didn't have coupons etc the shopkeepers thought she was a spy! She must have thought she was going mad. Or an alien. The simmilarities with sci-fi are quite interesting. Keep on enjoying it everyone.

I have started this one now. Not far in, she has just been picked up by the ship. I'm looking forward to reading about her arrival and seeing how she reacts to Britain at war.

This month we will be reading Susan's choice of 'Miss Ranskill Comes Home', which was published in 1946 and written by Barbara Euphan Todd.
